It occurred when George and Lydia heard screams and also when it said in the passage that the nursery was acting as a surrogate parent. There were metaphors in the story. Example: “…the papery rustling of vultures.” Setting: It took place in the Hadley’s Happylife Home in the nursery and the veldt.

He had owners, but he had dwindled down to nothing because his owners were no longer in the house. The dog died, and I realized that if people were in the house, they wouldn’t abuse their dog by letting him starve. They had most likely died, too.

Personification is the main part of the story. The house was portrayed as a human. Example: “The house shuddered, oak bone on bone, its bared skeleton cringing from the heat, its wire, its nerves revealed as if a surgeon had torn the skin off to let the red veins and capillaries quiver in the scalded air.
