and a gold rush was started. This made the country much more known around the world, and people
started to come in from many Southeast Asian countries as well as European countries. Even today, the
variety of ethnic backgrounds of the people inhabiting Australia is still strong. Very rarely do problems
occur with ethnic differences.
Europe contributed more to Australia than just people. They also brought
bad things such as new diseases and good things such as new ideas, such
as religion. Christianity was brought by the Europeans, and is now the
most popular religion in Australia. The inventions of the car and truck
were very important for transportation in Australia. Because most cities
are very spread apart, the ability to transport crops and other goods as
quickly as we can now has become vital in keeping supplies fresh. To
transport products to other countries, cargo ships and airplanes have
been the mean of transportation for several decades.
The concept of telephones has also helped some cities become less isolated, because they don't have to
make long journeys to communicate with important cities such as the capitol. Australia has continued to
grow as a country over the years due to inventions, exports, and tourism income.
