Mouli Samira Rahman has over 15 years of experience in safety roles. She currently works as an Inspector Assistant for the Office of Rail Regulation, where her responsibilities include event management, occupational health training and site inspections. Prior to her current role, she held safety positions at the Health and Safety Executive and worked as a teacher in Bangladesh. I have about fifteen years’ experience working in the Safety Sector. I am confident
and have held a variety of roles. I can adapt easily to any work environment and am
extremely flexible. I am a team player. I excel when faced with challenges and am
very independent. My independence allows me to be very organised and disciplined.
I am able to relate to and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people

I have been involved in developing operational projects and taking active leads in

Key achievements
Worked for Uks’ first Bangladeshi newspaper, whilst studying for my A levels.
This was a family business, so there was a lot of in-house training. I was
responsible in proofreading and working on generating advertising and
typesetting for the paper.
Producing my thesis during my final year of my Honours Degree, where I
decided to complete it on women’s’ emancipation focussing on a subject
which had not been researched before- Politics for Bangladeshi female
politicians, is success through merit or Inheritance. Female MPs’ in
Bangladesh embraced my findings 1993-1994.
2. I have taught at an English Medium School in Dhaka, Bangladesh where I
also taught poor children who were not ordinarily able to fund their own
education.
European Social Fund (ESF) student representative for Postgraduate Course
at Robert Gordon University from 1993 to 1994, elected by fellow students to
pursue funding and raise concerns with the EU.
I worked on developing strategies for the Diversity Action Group for the Health
and Safety Executive MAGNET (Minority Action Group Network). This later
formed part of HSE’s Diversity Action plan.
Neighbourhood watch coordinator for my local area since 2010, following a
series of burglaries including our own property, I raised the awareness of
safety within the neighbourhood by representing locals and liaising with local
politicians and the police force. I arranged a local media campaign to raise the
awareness. This resulted in stringent covert and overt measures within the
neighbourhood being implemented including a CCTV present on the street.
Blood Donation programmes- I have organised Blood donation events in
honour of my parents in raising blood donations for the poor and needy for
Red Crescent in Bangladesh.
Events Organising and Planning several charity events in Bangladesh, raising
profile and awareness of groups and raising funds for women’s’ groups and
fair trade organisations.
Run a Fair Trade Handmade paper and craft Business with my Husband in
my part time-designing handmade paper products and other children’s
products.
Work History
Office of Rail Regulation (ORR), Manchester Her Majesty’s Inspector
Assistant of Railways on the Central Specialist Inspectors’ team (2013-
present). My key areas and skills have been event management, organising
and leading on managing Divisional all staff conferences and managing and
running Occupational Health events. I have been responsible in promoting
Occupational health policies within the Rail Industry. I am the lead for the
Occupational health eBulletin, a quarterly publication which is sent
electronically to a subscriber base. My passion in the promotion of
occupational health within the UK Rail Industry is such that, subscription to
our eBulletin and Quarterly Industry newsletters have risen steadily globally. I
have skills in drafting papers and policies on a number of health based topics,
such as Corporate Social responsibility and volunteering, absenteeism and so
on. I have excelled in designing training aides for a number of Courses. I have
been responsible in developing pilot training Courses on Occupational health
and wellbeing, the first pilot will be delivered this September. I will also be

warranted Inspector Assistant, I have experience in investigations. I am
currently carrying out site inspections inspecting First aid arrangements in line
with Industry guidance and Regulation. I have successfully carried out
inspections and project work and reviewed outcomes and safety
recommendations.
