The student wanted to study abroad in order to improve their English skills and gain international experience. After being convinced by their mother, their father agreed to let them apply to boarding schools in the United States. The student was accepted to Kents Hill School in Maine, where they liked the campus and were given a good impression by the interviewing teacher. During their first day, they were relieved to become fast friends with their Canadian roommate. Over the course of the year, the student learned English and French, participated in sports, visited cities, and made friends from around the world. The experience helped them become less shy and prepared them to face challenges independently.
