Casting is a process where molten metal is poured into a mold and solidifies to form the desired shape. There are two main types of casting processes - those using expendable molds like sand, and those using permanent metal molds. The mold contains the cavity that defines the external shape of the part as well as any internal cores. Direction solidification is important to prevent shrinkage defects and is controlled using features like risers and chills. Properties of the final part are dependent on factors like alloy composition and solidification rate.
The document provides an overview of compression molding processes for thermosetting plastics. It discusses how compression molding uses a heated press to mold thermosetting compounds into shape. It also describes transfer molding as a similar process using either a pot or plunger to force the compound into a mold. The document outlines several types of transfer molding and their advantages.

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) is an important thermoplastic material that was first invented in 1872. It exists in both rigid and flexible forms. Rigid PVC is used for pipes, doors, and windows, while flexible PVC is used for insulation, plumbing, and signage. PVC is produced through the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers. It has various physical properties that depend on whether it is rigid or flexible, such as density, thermal conductivity, strength, and resistivity. The majority of PVC is formed through suspension polymerization, while some is formed through emulsion and bulk polymerization. PVC has many applications and is an important recyclable material.

2. Odkrycie Związki zwane polimerami zostały odkryte zupełnie przypadkowo w 1933 roku, kiedy to dwaj uczeni, Gibson i Fawcett, przeprowadzili reakcje miedzy etenem a innym związkiem organicznym, zwanym aldehydem benzoesowym. To przypadkowe odkrycie dało początek przemysłowi tworzyw sztucznych.
3. Polimery – związki wielocząsteczkowe Polimery naturalne, czyli występujące w środowisku przyrodniczym np. kauczuk naturalny, celuloza, kazeina Polimery sztuczne otrzymane przez modyfikacje polimerów naturalnych np. octan celulozy, galalit Polimery syntetyczne otrzymane związków chemicznych o małych cząsteczkach (monomerów) np. polietylen, polipropylen

16. Ecoflex – to biodegradowalny polimer wprowadzony na rynek w 1998 roku przez firmę BASF. W warunkach przemysłowego procesu kompostowania folia wyprodukowana z tego polimeru ulega biodegradacji po 3 miesiącach.
