Current events Does Congress Matter? Because, the purpose of a just government is to prevent plunder, not facilitate it. Anyone who stands in against corruption in the Beltway, we will stand with you — even if you've been part of the problem in the past. If you help clean it up, America loves repentance.
A grim President Hamid Karzai bowed to intense U.S. pressure and agreed Tuesday to a runoff election Nov. 7, acknowledging he fell short of a majority after U.N.-backed auditors stripped him of nearly a third of his votes.
The Nicaraguan Supreme court has lifted a constitutional ban on re-election, clearing the way for President Daniel Ortega to run again in 2011 elections. The court's decision followed an appeal by Mr. Ortega and a group of mayors.
congress takes a swing at steroid abuse! On March 17, Rafael Palmeiro testified under Oath at a congressional hearing on steroids in sports. Jabbing his finger into the air for emphasis, he declared, "I have never used steroids. Period."
