Monetization Tools for Content Creators on
YouTube
YouTube’s Brand Connect initiative has also greatly assisted content creators in
increasing their network and influence through direct collaboration with brands.
In September 2022, YouTube launched its version of TikTok mashed with Instagram Reels
through YouTube Shorts. Bite-sized content videos belonging to different genres gained
popularity instantly across all users and content creators on the platform. YouTube’s
Brand Connect initiative has also greatly assisted content creators in increasing their
network and influence through direct collaboration with brands.
The platform has focused on turning viewers into customers and giving content creators
meaningful insights that give them a helping hand in making newer and more appealing
content. In addition to adding a variety of monetary tools, YouTube has also harnessed
features of video effects and other editing tools, making videos more immersive and
attractive to watch.
Some ways in which YouTube is placing content creators, who are the primary reason for
the platform’s steady growth since its launch in the year 2005 include YouTube Shorts
Fund, Channel Membership, Live on YouTube, Channel Guidelines Integration, Sorting
Out Comments, Creators Corner, incorporating Web 3.0 and NFT in YouTube, and the
Super Chat and Super Thanks feature.
Amongst all the monetization tools available for those who create content on YouTube, it
is Super Chat, and the Super Thanks features that have been in the spotlight. The Super
Chat feature is a part of the YouTube Partner Program. The feature allows viewers to
purchase the top spot in the chat to stand out from all other viewers when a content creator
has gone live. While Super Chat is restricted to live videos, Super Thanks applies when
viewers pay a certain amount (that is pre-decided by YouTube) to show appreciation for
some content that is on YouTube.
Apart from monetization tools that are already rolled out by YouTube through their
monetization and channel membership programs, the platform is aiming to integrate
NFTs. The concept behind YouTube-integrated NFTs is for viewers to have ownership
rights to video content made by a creator. This can either be a complete video made by
the creator or certain seconds of the same. YouTube wishes to leverage the popularity of
original content creation, which is the USP of its platform, into a complete monetization
plan for the future.
The platform is yet to roll out the NFT feature and has targeted the end of 2022 or early
2023 for creating a marketplace for creators and buyers. It is expected that YouTube will
continue to add additional features for content creators to leverage the full potential of the
video-sharing platform and monetize their content. In fact, through the introduction of
shorts, there has been a drastic increase in the revenue system for major brands
through influencer marketing via YouTube.
As per statistical analysis, YouTube is set to remain the no. 1 free video-sharing platform
in the world, attracting millions of viewers and generating content relentlessly while
empowering content creators too.
