The document summarizes a study that compares how English address terms are translated into Persian in subtitled movies. The study analyzed address terms in two English movies and their Persian subtitles to determine which translation strategies were used. The most frequent strategy used by the translators was literal translation, which directly translates the address terms without changing the language structure. This approach aims to provide an accurate translation of how people address each other in English dialog to Persian viewers.

Abstract
Addressing Terms have significant social functions: the recognition of the
social identity, the social position, the role of the addressee and of the
interrelations between the addresser and the addressee. The aim of the present
study is an attempt to compare ‘address terms’ in English and Persian to find
out which types of translation strategies have been used in order to translate the
‘address terms’ from English to Persian. To this end, addressing terms were
analyzed and compared to their equivalences in their Persian’s subtitled movies
and types of strategies used were investigated. As the findings shows, the most
frequent strategy used by the translator was literal translation technique. There
is an assumption that the translator used this strategy in order to provide an
accurate translation.
