4 Objectives:
The known perspective of the consumer goods markets has been, particularly with
regard to the internationality, expanded onto the industrial goods. The students should
independently and successfully analyse, evaluate, and finally solve the managerial
responsibilities within an industrial goods company, especially in the IT sector. For this
they should individually understand the idiosyncrasies of industrial goods markets,
interpret an international environment, and design solutions. This management task
requires the interdisciplinary integration of marketing, accounting and financing, as well
as an analytical, problem-orientated thought structure.
5 Content:
Introduction to Business Marketing Management (features of industrial goods
companies and customers, etc.); Part I: Market Sensing and Market Strategy
(organizational purchasing behaviour, market segmentation and value generation,
business marketing strategy); Part II: Business marketing tools (Customer Relationship
Management, services and flexible market offerings, new product development, price
management, etc.); Business Marketing Ethics: discussion of current issues. Each
lecture is supplemented by a case study seminar in which current issues and decisions
of real companies are analysed and presented by the students.

The goal of this course is to acquaint the students with the implications of
entrepreneurship and innovation for different industry sectors. It should also put them in
the position to differentiate risks and opportunities, referring to relevant theories and
concepts, to recognize, anticipate and assess these risks and opportunities. As a result,
the students gain background knowledge of the strategic framework of the currently
employing companies and for their own career plans.
5 Content:
Students receive in-depth knowledge of business start-ups (entrepreneurship), the
characteristics of entrepreneurial behaviour within organizations (intrapreneurship) and
the management of innovation. After completing this module, students should
understand the unique challenges of entrepreneurial behaviour and should possess the
knowledge and skills necessary for setting up a business.

Based upon the known principles of accounting and finance, the students should
understand advanced concepts of performance measurement, investment planning and
financial control, as well as applying, critically reflecting and integrating into the overall
management of the company. For this purpose, both an explanation and interpretation
of the theoretical foundations of the concepts is necessary and their practical application
and classification into the control of the entire company, especially against the
background of an internationally operating business.

The course objective is to enable students to independently assess of economic
developments and their significance and impact on their own business decisions,
through the content mentioned below. Emphasis will be placed on international,
management-relevant contents. The education of inter-temporal and global thinking and
optimization approaches allows a more holistic view of economic relationships and thus
improved decision making.
5 Content:
The course covers three major areas: growth and development, international financial
markets and taxation. Next to foreign trade and growth theory, the first part also
includes the analysis of business cycles and issues in growth development. Part two
deals with international financial and debt crises, exchange rate risks as well as
advanced aspects of the monetary policy. In the third part, fiscal policy instruments,
such as spending programs, subsidies and taxation types are introduced and analysed.
By means of simulation models and IT-applications, the effects of different measures
can be understood and analyzed.

Production is one of the key areas in industrial enterprises. Today, an aggregate and
integrated view of the various departments of an enterprise shapes management
decisions. Students get to know basic theoretical and operative methods in production
as well as in process management. Both fields are integrated into modern management
concepts.
5 Content:
This module deals with production and process management. The production part
covers an introduction to production and cost theory, production planning and
management, as well as production-oriented aspects of management concepts such as
CIM, JIT, Lean, TQM and SCM. The process management part deals with process
modelling, determination of actual and set-point states, process-oriented implementation
of ERP systems, workflow management and process optimization with Lean Six Sigma.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to competently and intelligibly
present journal articles from one of their areas of study. They should overcome the
barrier of familiarizing themselves with a difficult text, identifying the message of an
article and to convey it to the an audience clearly and in a persuasive manner. This way
they will learn to analyze their audience so as to be in a position to tailor their
presentation accordingly; to recognize the relevance of the article; to understand and
explain new and difficult concepts, models, arguments and methods; to meet the
challenge of speaking in front of a larger audience in English about content and
argumentation of a demanding publication; and to give presentations and contribute to
scholarly discussions in acceptable and professional English.
5 Content:
In addition to teh topics of the articles, this module covers text analysis, analysis of the
audience, preparation of a presentation of a journal article to an audience (including
message, relevance, structure, rhetorical means), and PowerPoint.

Upon completion of this module, students should:
a) be able to act appropriately in virtual cross-cultural business situations.
b) have acquired sufficient experience with different online communication tools and
forms (e.g. email, wiki, forums, video-conferences, podcast, blogs, prezi collaboration)
so as to be able to easily adapt to new, emerging communication tools.
c) have acquired technical, communicative and cultural competencies
d) be familiar with different functions of virtual communication and be able to decide
which tools to use for which functions and contexts (e.g. visualizing information/data;
decision making; in-team productivity; communication with clients and partners; PR;
Internet presence) and in which situations virtual communication is not appropriate.

Netiquette, emotions in virtual communication; communicative competence: How do you
compensate for lack of visual clues?; when to use virtual communication and when to
insist on face-to-face communication; synchronous and asynchronous communication;
create a video/podcast or audio file with instructions, for instance; or with a
presentation/visual-audio description of a project at the student’s site; an interview, etc.;
Group Support Systems; avatars; concept and technology of “liquid democracy”; What

The students understand the basic idea of Enterprise Resource Planning and can
overview the market situation of the system providers. They are aware of the potentials
and challenges of a consistent process orientation and can control key business
processes in theory and system independent as well as practically using SAP ERP.
They monitor the interfaces with cross-company systems and know their functionalities.
In addition they monitor the management requirements for the implementation and
operation of ERP systems and are aware of the special role of ERP consultations.
5 Content:
After discussing the basic idea of ERP systems in contrast to the alternative solutions
(Best-of-Breed), the core business processes of SAP ERP are subject of this module.
The subsequent treatment of the potentials and limitations of ERP systems is followed
by the issue of complementary systems in the context of typical application packages
(especially CRM und SCM). Finally, the implementation process and the management
requirements during operation are addressed, in consideration of the special role and
the field of activity of SAP consulting.

The students know the basics of data warehousing as well as the application fields of
Business Intelligence solutions. The students learn the skill to generate meaningful
information from „row data“ and are able to establish useful reports. They also acquire
knowledge in the application of current In-Memory database technology using the SAP
HANA approach. The students gain practical experience in the application of the prior
treated In-Memory technology with the SAP HANA case study „Analytics“.
5 Content:
The first part of the course covers concepts from the area of Business Intelligence. The
second part will give an introduction to In-Memory technology. As part of the HANA
case study, these possibilities of In-Memory technology will be trained practically:

The students have a differentiated comprehension of the concept in the areas of E-
Commerce, E-Business und Net Economy and they know of the history of
developments, as well as the current trends of E-Business. In addition they understand
the implications of technology-driven business model changes as well as concepts of
value chain integration, such as Supply Chain Management and Customer Relationship
Management. They monitor the possibilities and challenges of digital marketing and are
able to develop and steer independent online-marketing campaigns.
5 Content:
In the first part of the course, E-Commerce- und E-Business-terms will be elaborated,
the dynamic development of technological infrastructure will be discussed as well as the
industry and company specific diffusion of E-Business und E-Commerce concepts. The
second part deals with the strategies and applications, in particular Customer
Relationship and Supply Chain Management, plus electronic procurement. In addition
"E"-business models are treated with their special characteristics, for example in terms
of network effects and digital marketing.

4 Objectives:
Students understand the necessity of an organized information management and they
are aware of the dynamics and complexity of this field of action. They know different
approaches and can overview the range of tasks. In addition they master the strategic
and operational methods, for instance in the areas of process modelling, strategy
development, resourse allocation and IT-controlling and are able to apply these
methods independently to new problems. Students can characterize and evaluate
alternative organizational concepts such as centralization, decentralization and
outsourcing.
5 Content:
After covering the conceptual foundations, the module turns to the necessity of an
organizational information management, the dynamic development of the relevant
socio-technical framework as well as alternative information management approaches
with their respective range of tasks. A focus is then placed on the application of
operational and strategic methods for goal setting, strategy development, strategy
implication and performance measurement, for example with the help of event-driven
process chains, scenario planning, portfolio analysis, benchmarking and the balance
scorecard. In addition, standard processes in the IT-management will be handled using
the IT-Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

this module and can therefore particularly understand the corresponding project
management requirements.

The module deals with the common software engineering approaches and also includes
the specific development or modification of an information system. Thus, it covers all
major stages of a software engineering-process, from planning with help of requirement
specifications through acceptance / implementation or maintenance.

The module contains thesis and colloquium. The thesis requires processing a
predefined written task in the fields of management, information systems or
communication. Subject of the colloquium is an oral presentation of the thesis as well as
the methology used, and subsequent discussion.

The students should independently and successfully analyse, evaluate, and finally solve the managerial responsibilities within an industrial goods company, especially in the IT sector. For this they should individually understand the idiosyncrasies of industrial goods markets, interpret an international environment, and design solutions.
