In MN95 Caṅkī sutta, the Buddha explained how to preserve the truth, discover it and final arrival at the truth, and the conditions most helpful for the final arrival at truth.
2. – Brahmin Bhāradvāja said:
‘From the ancient hymns of the
brahmans which passed down through
oral transmission & record in canon, the
brahmins come to the definite
conclusion: “Only this is true, anything
else is wrong.”
– The Buddha asked

says thus: “I know this, I see
this: ‘only this is true, anything
else is wrong’?”
3. Buddha: like a group
of blind men, each in
touch with the next:
the first one does not
see, the middle one
does not see, and the
last one does not see.
Brahmin: ”No!”
5. ‘‘My faith is thus’; but does not yet
come to the definite conclusion: ‘Only
this is true, anything else is wrong.’
How to preserve
the truth?
When one holds to a true just a
belief that has not been 'proven',
one may reasonably say:
