Professional Experience
Avenues for Homeless Youth, Minneapolis, MN
Youth Counselor, June 2010 Present
Acted as counsel and support for twenty youth (1621) experiencing homelessness, with
a focus on independent living skills, transitional housing, individual goal planning (as well as
assisting youth in meeting these goals), and conflict mediation through harmreduction, trauma
informed care, restorative justice, and holistic care models.
Arts Programming Coordinator, September 2014 August 2015
Developed and coordinated an arts program and curriculum for twenty youth (1621)
experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis. Programming focused on narrative building and
healing through the arts. Developed and lead arts programming both within the shelter (such as
poetry workshops, book club, open mic nights, visual art classes) as well as outside of the
shelter, with an added focus on community building, such as viewing and interacting with
installments at museums, theaters, galleries, community centers and other third spaces as well as
participating in community events. Developed spaces for dialogue and reflection on the ways in
which art informs community and one's personal identity. Recipient of a Blueprint Approved
Institute grant from the city of Minneapolis for youth violence prevention with a focus on youth
violence prevention through the arts.
