RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Pioneer Valley Project
Coalitional Organizing Intern May-August 2015 and June 2016
Conducted community outreach throughout the diverse neighborhoods of Springfield,
Massachusetts. Spoke in Spanish and English with community members who were citizens,
immigrants, and refugees about their needs, struggles, and personal experiences with housing,
schools, and the criminal justice system. This outreach grew the organization and strengthened its
policy campaigns.
Researched, cataloged, and presented data on: new target communities and their potential needs,
city government policies and property, tax, and title data, and existing conditions of housing,
schools, and employment through academic reports, government data, interviews, and fieldwork.
Engaged community members in leadership development through creating collaborative spaces
between diverse community organizations of refugees, immigrants, unions, places of worship, and
city government officials in which we collectively solved problems in the community.
Designed the organization’s new, upcoming website and outreach flyers in Spanish and English.
