Today | This Week | This Month The event was held by Queer Exposure (QXposure), a partnership between Associated Youth Services of Peel, the East Mississauga CHC and the Peel HIV/AIDS Network. Stolen BMW recovered (249 Views) The event is important for the GLBT community because it gives them a social space to interact, feel safe, and not have to worry about intolerance and discrimination, said organizer Nicole Ghanie-Opondo. "There aren't a lot of social spaces that are free and accessible," she said. It also provides awareness that the GLBT community is a major part of the region, Simcox explained. "As soon as you present the opportunity for an event like this, a lot of people go for it," he said. Queer It Up! has attracted the support of many local community groups and organizations and the organizers hope that the march will turn into a parade in the near future.
