1. Reducing Community Noise from Electrical Substations
with the AcoustiFiber™ Noise Barrier Wall System
In early 2007 Acoustical Solutions, Inc (ASI) was contacted by a national gas and
electric company to help resolve noise issues evolving from two electrical substation
transformers creating an environmental noise problem for two communities in the
Red Hook and Pleasant Valley, New York area.
Together ASI along with Hush Acoustics, LLC put together a plan to study the noise
sources, design, and ultimately erect a noise barrier wall solution that would bring the
noise down to an acceptable level within industry standards and those of the
surrounding communities. During this evaluation and design period it was determined
that the AcoustiFiber™ Noise Barrier System was the right choice for providing the
level of noise reduction needed to meet the goals of this project.
After careful study and many reviews by officials of all type, we are proud to announce the two projects are
completed and were successful in their goals of reducing the experienced noise levels by 8 dB! With reductions
even as much as 14 dB were recorded at some nearby locations! With an expected service life of 50 years and
proven results, the AcoustiFiber™ Noise Barrier System is the solution to bringing down the noise!
