4. Where did they learn their art
form, or train? How Michael Jackson learned how to dance and sing was by the fear of getting a beaten from his dad (Joe
Jackson)
 Joe was initially defensive about his relationship with Michael, insisting: 'I don't think he was afraid of me. What
he was afraid of, he may do something wrong and I'd chastise him but not beat him. I never beat him like the
media tried to say.
 The abuse took a toll. Michael often cried from loneliness and even vomited upon seeing the father he so
feared. He went from an adorable and impossibly talented little boy to a bizarre-looking and irrevocably scarred
middle-aged man. And still lonely. Very lonely.
 Perhaps to ease his loneliness and to try and create the childhood he never had, he often invited children over
to his fairytale and theme park-like Neverland Ranch.
 “Sat in a chair with a belt in his hand while the Jackson brothers rehearsed and that “if you didn’t do it the right
way, he would tear you up, really get you,”
 Michael was also a natural centre of attention. He loved singing and dancing, and because he was so young –
such an unexpected vehicle for a rousing, dead-on soulful expression – he became an obvious point of
attention when he and his brothers performed. Little Michael Jackson was cute, but little Michael Jackson was
also dynamite.
 During his life, Jackson claimed that from a young age he was physically and emotionally abused by Joe,
enduring long and incessant rehearsals, whippings and name-calling.
 Michael Jackson also used to stay up late watching James Brown’s music videos and the church had a lot of
influence on how to make him a better performer.

 "I'll just sing the bass part into the tape recorder," he said between snips of sung melody, totally pitch perfect.
"I'll take that bass lick and put the chords of the melody over the bass lick and that's what inspires the melody,"
he explained, before beat-boxing in court.
 On Billie Jean he says: "Listen, you're hearing four basses on there, doing four different personalities, and that's what gives
it character, but it takes a lot of work." At this point he had written a couple of hundred songs and said he'd usually be

 Of the album's nine tracks, four were written by Jackson. Seven singles were released from the album, all of which
reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Three of the singles had music videos released. "Baby Be Mine" and "The
Lady in My Life" were the only tracks that were not released as singles.
 "Bad" is a song by an American singer Michael Jackson. "Bad" was released by Epic Records on September 7, 1987, as
the second single from Jackson's third major-label and seventh overall studio album of the same name. The song was
written, composed, and co-produced by Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones. Jackson stated that the song was
influenced by a real-life story he had read about.
 "Black or White" was written, composed and produced by Michael Jackson and Bill Bottrell,[1] and was picked as the first
single from the album Dangerous. An alternate version was first heard by Sony executives on a plane trip to Neverland, as
the third track of the promotional CD acetate.
 "Beat It" is a song written and performed by American singer Michael Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones (with co-production by
Jackson). It is the third single from the singer's sixth solo album, Thriller (1982). Eddie Van Halen played the song's distinctive
overdriven guitar solo. While Van Halen was prevented by his record label from appearing in the music video, he did appear on stage
with Jackson in Dallas during the Jackson brothers "Victory Tour." Following the successful chart performances of the Thriller singles
"The Girl Is Mine" and "Billie Jean", "Beat It" was released on February 3, 1983 as the album's third single. The song was promoted with
a short film that featured Jackson bringing two gangs together through the power of music and dance.
 "Smooth Criminal" is a song written by Jackson and co-produced with Quincy Jones. Two early versions of the song were written in
1985 and the original demo was recorded in 1986.

artist in the Hot 100 era—and estimated sales of over 400 million records worldwide. Jackson has won hundreds of awards, making him
the most awarded recording artist in the history of popular music. He became the first artist in history to have a top ten single in
the Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades when "Love Never Felt So Good" reached number nine on May 21, 2014. Jackson
travelled the world attending events honouring his humanitarianism, and, in 2000, the Guinness World Records recognized him for

 Thriller is the sixth studio album by American singer Michael Jackson. It was released by Epic Records on November 30, 1982, as the
follow-up to Jackson's critically and commercially successful 1979 album Off the Wall. Thriller explores similar genres to those of Off the
Wall, including pop, post-disco, rock and funk. Recording sessions took place on April to November 1982 at Westlake Recording
Studios in Los Angeles with a production budget of $750,000, assisted by producer Quincy Jones.
 Thriller enabled Jackson to break down racial barriers in pop music via his appearances on MTV and meeting with President of the
United States Ronald Reagan at the White House. The album was one of the first to use music videos as successful promotional
tools—the videos for "Thriller", "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" all received regular rotation on MTV. In 2001, a special edition issue of the
album was released, which contains additional audio interviews, demo recordings and the song "Someone in the Dark", which was a
Grammy-winning track from the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial storybook.[9] In 2008, the album was reissued again as Thriller 25, containing
re-mixes that feature contemporary artists, a previously unreleased song and a DVD, which features the short films from the album and
the Motown 25 performance of "Billie Jean". That same year the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame along with
Jackson's Off The Wall LP.
 In 2012, Slant Magazine listed Thriller at number one on its list of "Best Albums of the 1980s".[10] The album was ranked number 20
on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list in 2003,[11] and was listed by the National Association of Recording
Merchandisers at number three in its "Definitive 200" albums of all time. The Thriller album was included in the Library of
Congress' National Recording Registry of culturally significant recordings and the Thriller video was included in the National Film
Preservation Board's National Film Registry of "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films".
 "Thriller" is a song recorded by American singer Michael Jackson, composed by Rod Temperton, and produced by Quincy Jones. It is
the seventh and final single released by Epic Records from his 1982 studio album Thriller. A 14-minute video showing Jackson in a
Halloween-themed performance was first shown on December 2, 1983.[1] The song was not released as a single until January 23, 1984.

work? He was one of the few in his time to be a complete entertainer. He was a songwriter, a great singer and a
dancer. His perfectionism is a benchmark used for any dancer even today.
 The concept of music videos as short films is one of Michael Jackson's greatest accomplishments. You know,
the way music videos often have this sort of story they tell?
 Michael Jackson popularized the Robot, break-dancing and many other dance styles. He also invented a lot of
cool moves
 He fought against racism in the music industry. Earlier, black artists were never give time on TV to show their
music videos and hence they never got any promotion. But Michael was so big that without playing his songs
the channels never got any viewer-ship. Hence, even the companies which were reluctant to play black artists
had to play him on their channel.
 He became the most famous person ever and used his fame to help the people. The composed the song WE
ARE THE WORLD for charity which eventually became the highest selling single.
 He made a big music empire of his own. He started with buying Beatles Catalogue and then collaborated with
Sony to make the biggest music publishing company ever called Sony ATV of which he is 50% owner. The
company is said to be worth 5-10 Billion Dollars.
 Combining his musical genius with the ability to wow the audience and the level of fame he got which helped
him rule the music world for more than 4 decades makes him the Greatest of all time.
