HILLCREST SECONDARY SCHOOL ABritish Curriculum Co-educational International School (13–18 years) ABOUT KWH Kenya Women Holding (KWH) is a women- led, women-serving, non-profit organisation that traces its roots to the Kenya Women Finance Trust, a micro finance institution established in 1981. The Mentorship Programme seeks to nurture leadership amongst the youth and empower them. OUR VISION To be the organisation that empowers, positions, and advocates for women. OUR MISSION To partner with women to create a better society. MENTORSHIP OBJECTIVE To nurture leadership amongst the youth of both genders and empower them to be productive citizens. APPROACH To engage institutions of learning in the provision of mentorship for young people. KWH will work together with consultants in the field of youth mentorship. PARTNERSHIP KWH has partnered with Hillcrest Secondary School in this initiative. KWH will work together with consultants, who are specialized in mentorship trainings for young people. FOCUS AREA The focus area will include the following: First Session • Leadership Skills • Mentor-Mentee Relationship, • Health Education (model to your peers) Second and Third Sessions • Coaching Skills • Goal Setting Fourth Session • Health Education (Drugs/Alcohol) • Community Outreach Fifth Session • Problem Solving • Conflict Management/Bullying • Stress Management Sixth Session • Personal Development • Self-confidence • Realising Your Full Potential Seventh Session • Etiquette • Career Progressing • Entrepreneurial Skills Eight Session • Community Outreach Day Sessions will be held either on a Saturday or on a Sunday. LEARNING BY DOING The programme will engage students in a project, where they will interact with the surrounding communities of the school as a way of giving back to society. KWH will use its networks to allocate the right community. The students are expected to come up with strategies on how to empower the life of a local citizen. Additionally, the mentees will apply their new skills on at least three peers at Hillcrest Secondary School in an academic year. DURATION OF SESSION/PROGRAMME Each session will run for a full day, from 0900–1500 on one Saturday (or Sunday) of each month during term time. The programme will run for one academic year, with eight sessions in that time. COST OF PROGRAMME The total cost will be KShs. 26,500.00 only for the whole programme and is payable in the first term of the academic year. Mentees are expected to attend all eight sessions. CERTIFICATION After each session the mentee will receive an attendance certificate and upon successful completion of the whole programme mentees will be awarded full certification.
