      President's Message In This Issue
                                                                    President's Message

The coolness in the air, the roar of an Welcome New Members
     enthusiastic Sun Devil crowd, the
sound of fireworks that celebrate a Member Spotlight
     touchdown...it's football season in
                                                                    Networking Event
     Tempe.
                                                                    Successful!

I couldn't help but think that Facebook & Twitter
promoting Tempe to potential visitors Presence
is similar to a football game.
                                                                    Upcoming Events
You can't win the game without
developing your strategy. We all love On the Road
the big, exciting plays when a
receiver runs the length of the field Quick Links
to make a touchdown. But, the Get to Know Tempe
points are just the same if the team gets there down by Dining & Nightlife
down, or with a long pass. Just like players who keep the Things To Do
football moving down the field, the Tempe CVB team uses Where To Stay
                                                                       Sports & Recreation
steady, consistent momentum to keep Tempe top of mind for Events & News

that's more important than ever. Here are some of our big
plays so far this fall. Tempe CVB staff members
                                                                       are always traveling across

sessions for more than 180 travel agents and 10 journalists.
Looking to expand Tempe's visibility, we promoted our city to Amy Richert
approximately 60 travel writers at a media event in New York Annual Pride in the Desert
City. In addition, we continue to position Tempe as a Tucson, AZ
                                                                       October 10, 2009

One of our most successful missions is always Showcase Brian Belkin
Arizona, which will be held in Hermosillo, Sonora on October TEAMS Conference
     8. More than 850 consumers are expected to attend and New Orleans, LA
more than 30 suppliers from Arizona will be exhibiting. The Oct 13-17, 2009
event includes a fashion show, highlighting the latest fashions Mark McMinn
that can be found by shopping in Arizona. Our participation in Holiday Showcase
this event is well worth it. In a study conducted by the Chicago, IL
Arizona Office of Tourism last year, more than 80% of tourists December 15, 2009
from Mexico who visited the Phoenix metropolitan area prefer Michael Martin
shopping at Tempe's own Arizona Mills. Showcase Arizona
                                                                       Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico
Our overall goal is to increase visitation to Tempe through October 7-9, 2009
individual travelers and families, meeting groups and sporting Nancy Black
events. We remain focused on an offensive strategy to Annual Pride in the Desert
ensure that Tempe will be well-positioned as a destination of Tucson, AZ

Thanks for all that you do to make Tempe a destination of Roundtable
     choice. Tucson, AZ
