Evaluate/Critique websites(see Elaboration below)
in terms of presentation, functionality, performance and problem issues
(NBCNews.com, Health care and software product websites, some of which are
Fortune 500 companies). I have provided some of these companies with my findings and
suggested fixes.
Study Finance: including CDO, MBS, default swaps, currency swaps, Modern Portfolio Theory,
etc.
Elaboration:
In my freelancing, I took on different roles for different companies, and it was mostly unsolicited
offerings (i.e. free samples, ‘good will approach’) which would hopefully lead to interest on their part to
perhaps consider bringing me in to consult or audition for f/t employment.
These roles and tasks were like mini-projects, which required medium/high level skills and discipline
in high demand technology.
Example 1: Solved network problem at a Jewelry store located in Marlboro NJ
simple fix after trouble-shooting found the problem,
using knowledge of intra-nets, routers and Windows Operating System.
Example 2: on Feb 5, 2014 I provided critical feedback to MSNBC with regards to major changes
installed on Website's Home Page.
Note 1: I still have the e-mail containing this unsolicited feedback that I provided to them.
Note 2: I do not claim full credit for this, but I was among the first to provide this.
Note 3: The day after I provided it, MSNBC changed the format of their Home Page, reflecting
some of my input.
Note 4: It was not completely changed but greatly improved.
WITHOUT these changes, MSNBC would have lost lots of followers to rival News Network
websites. That's lost revenue!
Example 3: Provided feedback and suggestions to CNBC Financial News on their revised display
panels which were missing some critical details and/or poorly highlighted numbers for
readability. The next day it was changed to address those problems.
3. Example 4: I provided feedback to ESPN and FOX Sports Networks on poor layout of their score display
panels.
Example 5: I used freely available web tools and my own background in testing websites, to evaluate
performance, functionality and user-friendliness of countless websites of companies, large and small.
Example 6: Began developing some products, some which I will donate as Freeware such as :
1- CITY_RESCUE_Resources, 2- E_MAILTRACKER, 3-JOBTRACKER, 4- PROBLEMTRACKER & 5- PROCESS_Monitor
Note: These products are in various stages of development, using a variety of popular technologies
including: Net Framework, JavaScript, Angular.Js, Knockout.js, C#, Winforms, HTML5, CSS3,
SQLServer, etc. Once I get a job, I will accelerate development of these products (on my own time,
mostly on the weekends).
MOST IMPORTANT: Throughout my career I have been a MENTOR to others and a SME.
