MEETING GHOSTS IN COLLEGE
PARK
Theatre maker Bairbre Ni Chaoimh and
The Curious Ensemble, a dynamic group
of Trinity students and graduates, are
working together to create an excit-
ing new site-specific show about love,
loss and remembrance called Meeting
Ghosts In College Park. This promenade
piece, which received an award from the
Visual and Performing Arts Fund, will be
part of TCD’s commemorative 16:16
Festival.
Meeting Ghosts In College Park, will in-
termingle contemporary stories of TCD
students with stories of people in college
a hundred years ago, whose lives were
affected by the tumultuous events of
the First World War and the Easter Ris-
ing. From the moment audiences are led
through the Museum’s heavy wooden
doors, they will embark on an unforgetta-
ble journey, encountering traces of peo-
ple, living and dead, who are linked to
this iconic building and whose lives are
intertwined across a span of a hundred
years by common threads of human at-
tachment and loss.
An ensemble cast and crew, drawn from
TCD’s School of Drama, Film and Music
and DU Players, will work with director
Bairbre Ni Chaoimh, assistant director
Rebecca Feeley, music director Simon
Morgan and choreographer Loli Ros
Gordon (PHD Drama student, Trinity) to
create a unique promenade piece for
this singular venue. It will immerse per-
formers and spectators in a world where
time blurs, and past and present overlap,
through an imaginative blend of origi-
nal sources and devised fictional text,
movement and dance, punctuated by
a mélange of classical music and songs
from the Great War and the present day.
Performances will take place in Trini-
ty’s magnificent Museum Building from
Monday 13th June – Saturday 18th June,
2016. There will be two performances
nightly at 7.30pm and 9.30pm for an au-
dience of 20 people per show.
