MediPi is a telehealth system developed by HSCIC to remotely monitor patients with chronic conditions through mobile devices in a secure, affordable way. It uses medical devices to measure vital signs and a simple interface for patients to complete daily questionnaires. Data is transmitted to clinicians who can message patients and access raw data through thresholds. Initial pilots focus on cardiac patients and costs £250 per patient, equivalent to savings of 4 nurse visits. MediPi is designed with open-source software and uses standards like Spine to securely and interoperably share data across clinical systems. HSCIC is looking to partner with NHS organizations to further test and develop MediPi clinically.
