Community encouraged to take part in Symposium
The Griffith Centre for Coastal Management is now taking applications for abstracts
to be a part of the Gold Coast Coastal Symposium on June 25 2016.
The Centre is looking for passionate members of the community who wish to express
their knowledge of the local coastal ecosystems.
The topics for the abstract can be from the following topic areas, coast care, coastal
wildlife, coastal education and coastal protection and engineering.
Students, Non-Government organisations, business and individuals who have an
interest and passion in coastal education are welcome to submit an abstract on a topic
that they feel passionate about.
The Symposium, which will be held at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus,
provides a platform for community organisations and businesses to both exchange
ideas and promote their efforts in conservation.
Headlining the Symposium will be Professor Rodger Tomlinson, Director of the
Griffith Centre for Coastal Management and Mara Bun, Chair of Gold Coast
Waterways Authority, and Non-Executive Director of Australian Ethical Investments
and Enova Community Energy.
Accompanying the keynote speakers will be a marketplace with information booths
and stalls from a range of organisations that are working in the coastal space.
Abstracts are to be sent to the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management at
CoastEd@griffith.edu.au.
The cost to register for Students is $35, not for profit organisations and community
members the cost is $50 and for profit organisations, research institutions,
government organisations and businesses $75.
