The document discusses the potential benefits of Indonesia's participation in the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA). It describes how MEA aims to integrate the economies of Southeast Asian countries and could make ASEAN the fourth largest economy by 2050. For Indonesia, MEA may increase exports, foreign investment, and employment opportunities, though it could also increase competition and potential exploitation of resources. Overall, MEA is presented as a way for Indonesia to boost economic growth and development through greater regional economic cooperation and integration.
The creative economy has become a driving force for economic growth
and cultural development in Indonesia, with the Minister of Tourism
and Creative Economy at the forefront of shaping policies and
initiatives to support this sector. This research employs a mixedmethods approach, combining quantitative survey data and qualitative
insights from in-depth interviews, to explore the Minister's role in
encouraging innovation and entrepreneurial networks in the creative
economy. The findings reveal a generally positive perception of the
Minister's policies, with stakeholders acknowledging their
effectiveness in promoting innovation and entrepreneurial networks.
Networking and collaboration initiatives facilitated by the Minister are
seen as instrumental in fostering connections within the sector. While
challenges exist, including the need for enhanced funding accessibility
and intellectual property protection, they present opportunities for
policy improvement. The study contributes to a nuanced
understanding of the Minister's impact and offers policy
recommendations to further enhance the growth and sustainability of
the creative economy in Indonesia.

ABSTRACT : The service sector can be a driving force for the economy of a country by relying on human
resources owned by that country or from other countries. For example, countries that are members of ASEAN
can take advantage of the service sector to improve their economy by relying on the human resources of each
country and the human resources of the countries that are members of ASEAN. This research was conducted on
10 ASEAN members, namely Brunei Darrussalam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia,
Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The type of data used is quantitative data in the form of secondary

The broad theme of this paper is on the relations between creative economy and economic diplomacy in the Indonesian context. The paper believes that creative economy is a valuable asset in Indonesian economic diplomacy, besides other more established sectors, inter alia trade, investment, tourism, and services. The contribution of creative economy to the economic growth of Indonesia is evident from its share to the GDP growth, workforce absorption, and export balance. Furthermore with the establishment of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (being the first of its kind in the world), creative economy is also in synergy with the tourism sector in strengthening and promoting each other.
This paper recognized that in the venture of advancing creative economy, several challenges exist and if not carefully managed, they will shroud and hinder the creative economy to rise to a higher notch. Indeed there has to be a comprehensive approach to optimize the development of creative economy; including the creative ideas, creative technology, creative industries, and human resources. Furthermore, market penetration and access to financing have to be expanded.
Despite the current challenges that are still faced by the creative economy sector, the opportunity is still promising. The potency of the external market has not been fully utilized. In this regard, greater focus and attention for strategies to penetrate these markets, both in the traditional markets as well other countries as the nontraditional market are crucial. In addition to this, creative economy could play a very important role in promoting national tourism, including local culture and wisdom to the international audience.
On the recommendation part, this paper put forward ideas in the form of thirteen strategies to be considered by policy makers, as well as for diplomats posted in Indonesian Embassies/Consulate Generals abroad in doing their function in the economic and/or socio-culture sections, by emphasizing the synergy between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

“MEA IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE EXPORT
FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF INDONESIA’S INDUSTRY
AND TOURISM”
NURSERY LECTURER : NADIATUL KHOIROH S.Pd. MM
3. The Indonesian government is trying to increase foreign
exchange through various efforts to optimize development in all sectors,
including optimization in the tourism sector to date. The development of
the tourism sector is one of the breakthroughs to increase foreign
exchange both at the national and regional levels. In order to align the
tourism sector with other sectors, it is necessary to carry out
representative and comprehensive development efforts in the tourism
industry.
Tourism is a form of subtle export of goods and services that
are considered beneficial especially for a country's national economy
because it can increase foreign exchange earnings. The desire to increase
the development of tourism in Indonesia is basically caused by several
factors, firstly is the reduction of petroleum as a foreign exchange earner
when compared to the past, secondly the value of our exports in the non-
oil sector has decreased, thirdly the prospects for tourism which still
show a consistent increasing trend and fourthly the great potential that
we have for the development of tourism in Indonesia.
5. MEA (ASEAN Economic Community) or AEC (ASEAN
Economic Community) is an economic agreement made
for the integration of Perbara (Association of Southeast
Asian Nations) in the face of free trade. This agreement
was first established in December 2015 by 10 other
countries, namely Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei
Darussalam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia,
Laos, Vietnam and Singapore.
MEA wants to unite the diversity of economies in
Southeast Asia and is predicted to become the 4th largest
economy in the world by 2050. The Coal Region has
become one of the significant players at the global level.
In addition, ASEAN is the 4th largest export region in the
world which accounts for more than 7 percent of
international exports. The astonishing growth of the
West Sumatra region makes AEC important, not only for
the ASEAN community, but also for the whole world.
6. The following is the purpose of
establishing MEA
Building integration
towards a global
economy
Achieve balanced and
sustainable economic
growth and
development
8. • Building integration towards a global economy
• Achieve balanced and sustainable economic growth
and development
• Investment increases MEA is beneficial to increase
investment from abroad
• Stabilizing the country's Economy For Indonesia and
other countries in the ASEAN region
10. POSITIVE IMPACTS
• Trading aspect
The positive impact after the arrival of the
MEA was felt by the trade aspect. Because with
the MEA, all trade barriers are reduced or even
non-existent. Not only that, with the
implementation of the AEC, especially in
Indonesia, there will be an increase in the
capacity to export local products to foreign
countries and increase the country's foreign
exchange. Well, this country's foreign
exchange is useful for paying our country's
debts. So over time our national debt will be
paid off.
11. • Investment aspect
Furthermore, another aspect that has been positively affected
by the MEA is the investment aspect. MEA provides easier
access for investors so that they can directly and seamlessly
carry out their investments in various sectors, especially the
economic sector. In addition, the presence of AEC has led to
wider and wider entrepreneurial opportunities that are
creative and highly competitive.
• Employment sector
The employment sector has also been positively affected by
the MEA. With the presence of MEA, the community will try to
improve the quality and personal skills so that they can
compete with people from other ASEAN countries. In addition,
Indonesian people are also "forced" to think more openly
towards existing socio-cultural changes.
12. NEGATIVE IMPACTS
• In terms of competition
The first negative impact of the AEC is increased competition for domestic
and foreign products. Do you know why the reason? This is due to reduced
barriers and no more regional boundaries for goods and services
circulating in the Southeast Asia region. So, there will be many imported
products that will be in our traditional market in the future. This will have
an impact on the threat of the position of the local industry, because there
are not a few foreign products that have better quality than local products.
• Exploitation aspect
The entry of foreign investment for each country has a negative impact.
That is because there must be an exploitation of natural resources and
human resources. Especially in Indonesia, which has a lot of natural
resources but cannot be processed by themselves, this will be exploited by
existing foreign companies.
13. THE ROLE OF THE MEA FOR INDONESIA
AND ASEAN COUNTRIES
04
14. ● Increasing State Profits
MEA plays a role in increasing the profits or profits of a country. This is because export activities will
not be charged so that the income margin will be greater. As a result, the profits obtained are even
greater.
● Smoother Export Activities
Thanks to the MEA in the Southeast Asia region, various export activities have also become smoother
because there are no customs duties. So, the process of sending goods is no longer delayed. Goods
originating from Indonesia can arrive faster with guaranteed quality.
● Improving Community Welfare
MEA fully supports labor exchange programs from many countries. Of course this can benefit
Indonesia because it will open up more job vacancies for the whole community. Automatically with
adequate employment opportunities, people's welfare will increase.
● Investment from Abroad Increased
● The Development of the Creative Industry
15. ● Investment from Abroad Increased
It is undeniable that MEA is also useful for increasing investment from various countries. This will
definitely benefit Indonesia because currently there are a lot of companies and creative industries that
need additional funds.
● The Development of the Creative Industry
MEA's role can also be felt by the increasingly tight competition in the creative industries. This is
because international trade demands the creation of innovative products and a competent workforce
in accordance with their respective fields.
