Richard James Mc Donald and Maurice James Mc Donald were brothers born in Manchester, New Hampshire in the early 1900s who became American entrepreneurs. Richard opened the first McDonald's restaurant in San Bernardino, California in 1948 and went on to build it into a global fast food empire, growing the brand until his death in 1998. Maurice also worked as an entrepreneur and helped Richard in his business ventures until Maurice's death in 1971.
