3. Introduction ( A little about me )
My name is Myakel Valera and I'm the
auther of this book. I go to Bronx Light House
Charter School in the Bronx. I am Dominican
and trust me I like to play basketball more
than baseball. My passion for basketball is
beyond what others might be of . I as a child
I probably wasnt the best athlete when I was
really young in basketball but over time my
hard work and dedication paid off to were I
am now.

4. My First Passion
WHITE = This represents how
important BASEBALL was to me as
a child(ages 2-8)
BLACK = This represents how
impotant BASKETBALL was to me
as a child (ages 2-8)
As a child ( ages 2-8) all I ever wanted to do was step on a baseball
feild. Baseball was my true talent at the time. I remember one season
when i went one season with only getting stroken out one time and the
rest of the at bats were all in side the park home runs. At the time
baskeball was not important in my life at all. If anything I would have
rather go to read a book than play basketball.

5. The Start
When I would have a game with my baseball team the
leauge was by a basketball court. So when my team would
be waiting or finished up with our game some of us would
head to the basketball court. When first I was not a ggod
player what so ever. I was B.A.D. BAD! I didnt kno how to
shoot, dribble, lay the ball up, and definitely did not
know how to play defence. But I didnt care because it
wasnt a important sport for me.
Until I heard that in my fourth grade year that they
were going to start a basketball team. I joined to be able
to play with my friends and to have something to do after
school. And from that year it all started !

6. My First Basketball Team Experieness
My first offiial first basketball experience was when I was in the fifth
grade. My coaches were Mr. Richard, Coach Ant, and Ms. Mclure. In that fifth
grade year I had to go to homework help because my mother wanted me to
get better grades even though i had ear all B's. From there on out I relized I
was not going to be able to play basketball without my grades being on point.
Meaning that I need B's and A's in order for me to play basketball. With Mr.
Richard it was all about working out and being in shape. He would make us
run laps around the school, 100 push ups, ans 100 sit ups. At the time it was
alot of work but not after it
became a customed to me. Also

time.

7. My Goals for Basketball
After being on so many basketball teams( school teams,
traveling teams, camp teams etc...) my goals increased
and started to get harder. After going to basketball camps
and seeing players up to my level or even better than me.
It just makes me want to work harder. I want to go to a
good basketball highshool that also has good acedemics(
St. Raymond Catholic School). After I graduate from
highschool I want to go to the University of Syracuse and
continue my basketball career. And hopefully make it to
my most important goal. Make it to the NBA!

8. Conclusion White -- How important

time I reahed 11 years
old.

years old.
As you can tell over the years my love for passion
has increased alot. This is only the beggining of my
basketball career. There are many more
accomplishments to come. My DEDIATION,
PASSION, and LOVE for basketball will always be
within me !
