This document summarizes an organization called One Belief that promotes mental health awareness through initiatives in school and workplace settings. Some key facts presented include that 1 in 5 adolescents have a diagnosable mental health disorder, nearly 20% of teenagers consider suicide, and less than 50% of teenagers receive help for mental health conditions. The organization challenges districts to promote mental health awareness through staff donation campaigns, educational materials, and fundraising opportunities that give proceeds back to schools while also promoting diversity, inclusion and emotional wellness. The benefits outlined are educating staff and students on mental health and supporting a positive school culture and community environment.
Social support through positive, health-promoting relationships can have a significant impact on motivation and long-term success. Otherwise, the health risk can increase dramatically. For example, when someone close to a participant becomes overweight, their chances of becoming overweight increase 45%-171% (depending on the nature of the relationship).
This paper focuses on the advantages of social support, with ideas for your organization to take advantage of these findings.
The document discusses wellness counseling and different models used in counseling clients.

This document discusses different types of firewalls including packet filtering firewalls, application gateways, circuit gateways, and dynamic packet filters. It describes how each works and their advantages and disadvantages. Packet filtering firewalls use transport layer information to filter packets and are the simplest but least secure. Application gateways use proxies to filter at the application level for specific protocols like HTTP, FTP, and SMTP. Circuit gateways filter at the TCP level. A dynamic packet filter combines these approaches. The document also discusses firewall configuration and limitations, such as not protecting against inside threats.

Memory Problem and Dementia
Introduction
Growing up as a kid at about 6years of age, I looked at people with memory issues and dementia as a problem which is diabolical or may be caused by a person’s wicked act or was inflected on a person due to envy. I started having different ideas about memory problems and dementia in my adolescent age, to me, it was a degeneration in the brain. So, what is dementia? “It is a progressive chronic disorder of mental processes caused by damage to the brain, change in personality, brain disease, and memory disorders” (Hubert, & VanMeter, 2018). An article on the American Academy of Neurology stated the brochure about memory problems and dementia was published November 13, 2013. The brochure provided other organizations where people could get more information about this disease and how well to screen and manage people with memory loss and dementia, some of these organization are NIH Alzheimer’s Disease Education and Referral Center, Eldercare locator, and National Memory screening.
Summary of the article on Memory Problem and Dementia
The main topics discussed in this brochure, which we will be discussing starting with, what are the causes of memory problems? Some of the cause of memory loss has been linked to stress, and anxiety or depression, head injury, stroke, to mention a few. If a person makes visiting the doctor for regular health checkups important, most of these issues mentioned could be avoided.
Another topic discussed was, should a family member or friend go with you to the doctor? From my point of view, I would say yes because a close family or friend can explain better what they have noticed and the changes the person with this problem exhibits.
Another main topic discussed was, when should you be concerned about memory problems? When love ones start forgetting the names of people close to them, which is disheartening or forgetting if they have eaten, forget familiar locations, then that should be the best time to seek help from a specialist.
Another main topic discussed was, how can your family or friends help? Some of the ways family and friends can help is to continuously show love and have as much patience in redirecting the patient without hurting their feelings. Also, learn about helpful ways to manage dementia and join support groups.
Some of the information could promote communication between patients and healthcare providers. The patient should make a list of what worries them about the disease and try to be as honest as possible and not assuming the healthcare provider should know everything just by looking at the patient, that would promote communication between patient and healthcare provider. Also, write or bring all medication-taking even, herbals or vitamins (Coleman, 2015).

While mental illnesses have many contributing factors like stress, abuse, and poverty, there are also many myths surrounding mental illness. In reality, it can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, or background. Further efforts are needed to improve access to mental healthcare and increase awareness and education to combat the stigma around mental illness.
This document provides information about depression and resources for managing mental health as a college student. It discusses common symptoms of depression and encourages seeking help from a GP if symptoms last more than two weeks. It then discusses challenges college students face like transitioning to college life, relationships, and academics. Myths about depression are debunked, and statistics about depression rates among college students are presented. The document recommends students utilize support services at their college like counseling, health centers, and chaplaincy. It also encourages opening up to family and friends, or using anonymous helplines, when feeling depressed. Ways friends can support others and encourage seeking help are discussed.
This document discusses common misconceptions about mental illness and provides facts to counter them. It begins by defining mental health and mental illness according to the WHO. It then lists several common misconceptions such as the ideas that mental illnesses are caused by supernatural forces, that only certain types of people experience them, or that seeking help makes the conditions worse. Each misconception is followed by a concise fact-based response explaining the real causes and nature of mental illnesses. The document aims to promote understanding and combat stigma by accurately informing about these conditions.
1. May is Mental Health Month: One sister's

COMMENTS| UPDATED: 2 DAYS AGO Three years
ago, on May 4, I lost my sister to suicide after a two-
year struggle with a mental health crisis. As a family
we struggled with finding her appropriate care and
faced the stigma that comes from a loved one
suffering from a mental health issue. The majority of
my friends and extended family ignored the fact that
we were dealing with a major life-threatening illness
on a daily basis. The very topic of mental health
makes people uncomfortable and my sister was
ashamed to let anyone know of her struggles. While I
told her over and over that her illness was no
different than heart disease or cancer, there still is
the uncomfortable message from society about "crazy
people." For two years I lived with the fear that
each new day would bring something worse. And
when it did I was not prepared for how it would
affect our family or myself. A loss from suicide
consumes you with regrets, self doubt about what I
might not have done to save her, and guilt. And the
2. loneliness is overwhelming. Friends and family
members distance themselves. No one wants to talk
about your loss or encourage you to share your
story. People ignored that a tragedy had occurred. It
was as if the circumstances of her death by suicide
were something that should be ignored. I
remember the day my sister was born. I was 5 years
old. We were very close because of difficult family
circumstances. During this crisis, I was not prepared
to accept the fact that her illness brought her so
much pain she saw no way to survive. I have learned
that this is now part of my life story but I have not,
nor will I ever, be able to accept the fact that Mental
Health Services, hospitals, medical staff and I could
not prevent the ultimate demise of my
sister. Addressing mental health before Stage 4 --
this year's theme for May is Mental Health Month --
calls attention to the importance addressing mental
health symptoms early, identifying potential
underlying diseases, and planning an appropriate
course of action on a path toward overall health.
Mental health conditions should be treated long
before they reach the most critical points in the
3. disease process -- before Stage 4. When we think
about cancer, heart disease or diabetes, we don't wait
years to treat them. We start before Stage 4 -- we
begin with prevention. So why don't we do the same
for individuals who are dealing with potentially
serious mental illness? This Mental Health Month,
we are encouraging everyone to learn the signs, ask
for help if needed, address symptoms early, and plan
an appropriate course of action on a path toward
overall health. One of the quickest and easiest ways
to determine whether you are experiencing
symptoms of a mental health condition is to take a
mental health screening. Mental Health America has
online screening tools for depression, anxiety, bipolar
disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder at
mhascreening.org. MHA's goal is to get every
American screened and aware of their mental health,
so they can address it #B4Stage4. MHA has also
developed a series of fact sheets available on its
website (mentalhealthamerica.net/may) on realizing
the critical importance of addressing mental health
early, recognizing the risk factors and signs of mental
illness and how and where to get help when
4. needed. May as Mental Health Month was started
66 years ago by a national organization, Mental
Health America, to raise awareness about mental
health conditions and the importance of good mental
health for everyone. When feelings and emotions
get overwhelming, it's hard for families to know what
to do. Sometimes, these early symptoms might not
ever become serious. Like a cough, they often go
away on their own, and are nothing to fear. But
sometimes, they are a sign of something more severe
and shouldn't be ignored. Taking a screening is the
first step to protect your mental health, and
addressing mental illness before Stage 4. Research
shows that by ignoring symptoms, we lose 10 years
in which we could intervene in order to change
people's lives for the better. During most of these
years most people still have supports that allow them
to succeed -- home, family, friends, school and work.
Intervening effectively during early stages of mental
illness can save lives and change the trajectories of
people living with mental illnesses. Prevention, early
identification and intervention, and integrated
services work. When you address symptoms before
5. Stage 4, people can often recover quickly, and live
full and productive lives. * * * Milpitas resident
