Material self – comprised of our body (Cloths, immediate
family, and home.
It is the material representation of yourself.

Possessions and ExtendedSelf
Extended self – is the self defined by external objects surrounding the
individuals
1. Individual level – personal possessions and belongings
2. Family level – the home, the residence and its furniture
3. Community level – self attachment to their neighborhood
4. Group level – belongingness in group determines the degree to
which the individual relies on the group for an identity

Several ways inintegrating possessions into
the extended self
1.Taking an object for personal use.
2.Incorporating an object into the self by
creating or buying it.
3.The object becomes part of the self by
knowing them and by being by being to
have the object

Consumer Behavior- itis the study on how people buy, use,
and dispose of certain object.

Id – Pleasure principle. Immediate satisfaction is derived.
Needs to survive
Ego – reality principle. It resides between id and ego and
evaluates which one has a better idea/reason in
considering reality.
Super ego – moral principle. Rules the choices for what is
right or wrong.
