RATIONAL
- All over the world, there are animals that need our help.
   Many of these animals’ populations are so few that they are
   classified as endangered. In particular, the Bengal Tiger is one
   of these many endangered animals on our planet.
- The goal of this lesson is to create an awareness of
   endangered animals around the globe. Students will be
   focusing on the Bengal Tiger.
- By integrating technology, students will be exposed to activists
   currently helping the tigers and videos and blogs of the Tiger
   in its natural habitat.

  view professionals’ blogs and discuss the
  endangered Bengal Tiger.
• It will also provide information via educational
  websites on how to contribute to the
  preservation of the Bengal Tiger’s habitat and
  lifestyle.
• Students will also be able to participate in
  interactive modules which will help their
  understanding of the topic.

world’s leading big cats activists. Students will be able to
hear him discuss how much work goes into animal
conservation, but also how rewarding it is. Dr. Rabinowitz
supports his finding with stories and photos that
supplement the podcast.
Panthera is an organization that supports all “big cats”
in need of help. It is consistently updated with the
latest conservation strategies, research, and the status
of our large, furry friends.

In Science, student will learn about the Bengal Tiger’s obvious
anatomy.
Label the Bengal Tiger’s unique physical characteristics, then write a
sentence about how that physical characteristics helps it to survive in
the wild.

• This is a project for students to discuss and construct the
  habitat of an animal.
• This project can be modified and adapted to focus on the
  Bengal Tiger.
Children's Stories
• This site allows children to record audio and visual readings of
  a book of their choice. Students practice fluency and reading
  aloud.
• They may then share their personal creations online with
  others.
Grades 3-6 Language Arts
• This self-guided, interactive website provides the link
  to online, animal themed, graphic organizers by topic
  (i.e. facts, habitat, babies, interactions)
• Language Arts can be incorporated in to the lesson
  by expanding upon prior knowledge of nonfiction
  reading.
• Students choose an endangered animal and conduct
  research for a visual presentation.
• Students input their gathered information and print
  the graphic organizer when they are finished.
• This resource enforces the NCTM Standards of
  English Language Arts:
  – Students apply a wide range of strategies to
    comprehend, interpret, evaluate, and appreciate texts.
    They use their personal schemas and knowledge of
    meanings and other texts, and interactions with
    others, and text feature strategies. they will be able to
  – Students conduct research on issues by generating
    ideas, questions, and posing problems. They
    gather, evaluate, and synthesize data from a variety of
    sources.
  – Students use spoken, written, and visual language to
    accomplish their own purposes.
