Exteriormaterialsforthechurchincludepolishedgranitefor
columnsandGeorgetownlimestone.Alargertowerfaces
westoverSimcoeStreet.Thistowerhasfourdecorative
turrets,oneateachcornerwithparapetsseparatingthem.A
Lombardbandstretchesbetweenthetwoturretsandabove
threeRomanesque-stylearcheddoorways.
Inadditiontothememorialwindow,therearethreebrass
tablets;thefirstistotheleftofthepulpit,inmemoryofRevD.

ThecornerstoneofthepresentchurchwaslaidonApril20
1875,asaresultofthewinterdelay.St.Andrew’sChurch
wasWilliamStorms’lastandmostpopularmajorchurch
commission.Atthetimehewasdelegatinghistimebetween
buildingSt.Andrew’sanderectingCarltonStreetChurch.
Thepolishedcherrywoodpewswiththeircarvedends,and
flowermotifaddstothebrillianceoftheinteriordesign.All
trimanduppergalleriesexhibitverydefinedwoodenfeatures
andaretiedwithcarvedcherrywoodposts.
In1852,thebandofthe71stHighlandLightInfantryplayed
asthechoir;thenextyearachoirwasformed.Theoriginal
organcost$2,200andwaslaterreplacedbythecurrent
organin1885,atacostof$13,000.
St.AndrewPresbyterianchurchfeaturesRomanesque
revivalarchitecture,whichisablendofRoman,Carolingian,
Ottonian,ByzantineandGermanictraditions.Themost
significantcharacteristicsabouttheRomanesquestyleareits
semicirculararchesforwindows,doorsandarcades.
Thesemicirculararchessupporttheupperfloors,aswellas
exteriordoorandwindowopenings.exteriordoorandwindowopenings.
Overthepulpit,thestainedglasswindowfeatures“TheGood
Samaritan”tocommemoratethememoryofJamesMiche,a

cityofToronto,thestationwasnamedStAndrewStation.
