Hyderabad: Kerala-based Talenmark Developers is developing an iconic Cultural Monument at Calicut. This
will be the biggest cultural centre in India. This is being constructed in nine acres and is part of the Markaz
Knowledge City. This will be ready by January 2020, said M Habeeburahman, Managing Director, TalenMark.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said the upcoming structure will be one of its kind and
about 80 per cent of the works have been completed. It will have amphitheatres, library, museum, research
and development centre, spiritual enclave and a large souk, which is a marketplace or commercial quarter,
he said adding that the project will cost Rs 100 crore.
Habeeburahman said Talenmark chose to announce the project in Hyderabad as it was in the city to
participate in the Indo-Arab World Bilateral Meet, organised by the Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce. About
300 business leaders are participating in the meet.
The project is modeled on prominent knowledge exchange centres. The circular souk, built in the Arabiic
marketplace architecture styles, will have about 150 businesses across 50 categories of trade. This will give
visitors a glimpse of different cultures, he said.
The Cultural Monument will have 1,00,000 sqmt constructed area. On the other hand, Markaz Knowledge City
is a bigger project coming up at an investment of Rs 3,000 crore.
On the choice of location, he said Calicut has a rich heritage and history and this will be India’s only Arabic
Souk. It will have a mix of six architectural styles, mainly Mughal. It will also house India’s biggest rooftop
garden and will act at a spillover space and would be replete with more than 100 fruit trees on completion.
The center has a bulbous dome in steel structure, which will be the biggest dome of its kind in India, he said.

project. This will be a small one to make a foray into Hyderabad. However, it plans to set a township and this
could see an investment of Rs 250 crore. It will also be open to set up knowledge city kind of projects as well,
he said. The company also has interests in resorts, he said.
