Join Pastor Jimmy Steele as he continues walking through the book of Mark. We are surveying the Son of God. This week we learn about Jesus calling His disciples.
2. "I will tell you the secret. God has
had all there was of me. There
have been men with greater brains
than I have, men with greater
opportunities, but from the day
that I got the poor of London on
my heart and caught a
3. vision of what Jesus could do with
them, on that day I made up my
mind that God should have all
of William Booth there was. The
secret is that the greatness of a
manโs power is found in the
measure of his surrender."
-William Booth
6. 14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went
into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of
God. 15 โThe time has come,โ he
said. โThe kingdom of God has come near.
Repent and believe the good news!โ16 As
Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he
saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a
net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
7. 17 โCome, follow me,โ Jesus said, โand I
will send you out to fish for people.โ 18 At
once they left their nets and followed him.
19 When he had gone a little farther, he
saw James son of Zebedee and his brother
John in a boat, preparing their
nets. 20 Without delay he called them, and
they left their father Zebedee in the boat
with the hired men and followed him.
8. I. Following Jesus Begins with
Surrendering our Hearts to His Message
(vv. 14-15).
9. II. Surrendering our hearts to Jesus'
message demands surrendering our lives
to His Mission (vv. 16-17).
10. III. Surrendering our lives to Jesus'
Mission demands embracing our new
identity in Him (vv. 17-20).
11. if any man will come after me, let him
deny himself, take up his cross, and follow
me (Mark 8:34).
12. Behold I am sending for many fishers,
declares the LORD, and they shall catch
them. . . For my eyes are on their ways.
They are not hidden form me, nor is the
iniquity concealed from my eyes. But first I
will doubly repay their iniquity and their
sin. . . (Jeremiah 16:16).
