2012–2013 Marin Symphony Subscription Season The stage is set for a brilliant season of Fresh Local Music. "We’re celebrating our 60th year of music-making in style from our opening tribute to all things Italian—to our season closer which tips a nod to the French Impressionist masters Debussy and Ravel. In between those Mediterranean bookends you’ll find grand symphonies by Beethoven and Elgar, and Brahms' moving “A German Requiem.” And Bay Area native Nigel Armstrong, at only 21 years old already a prizewinner in multiple international competitions, performs Bruch’s beloved Violin Concerto no. 1. Please join us!" –Alasdair Neale Beyond the five subscription concert programs Maestro Neale has created for us, Family and Holiday Concerts, intimate Prelude and in-home recitals, innovative events including an Outdoor Concert and Picnic at the Civic Center Lagoon are planned. We’re also thrilled to be a part of the National Young Composers Challenge expansion to the west coast in October of this year. 60 years and growing—a beautiful history and bright future vision. We invite you to join us to celebrate our 60th year with us and look forward to seeing you at the elegant gala event on Sunday evening October 28th following the first concert of the season. We'll share stories from 60 years of history—from the maestros and musicians who have graced our stage to artists who have gone on to successful careers following appearances with us—and paint a picture of our hopes for the future of the Symphony.
