Objective
OBJECTIVE: To obtain employment in the position of German/English translator and/or
proofreader.
Work Experience
Private German teacher
3/2012 – present
 I am currently teaching German to a 17-year-old girl. We meet four times a
week on Skype for an hour. We speak almost exclusively in German and
practice reading and writing German with the help of workbooks, online articles
and stories, for example. This past year we read the first Harry Potter book
together and discussed the themes and characters of the book at length.
German teacher
2/2009 – 6/2009
 I was a private German teacher for about 5 months. I taught German to a
woman who was preparing to work for a German company here in the U.S. She
spoke no German when we started, but after 25 hours a week of lessons for
about five months, she picked up the language and eventually became fluent.
We did a lot of grammar exercises, reading, translation and speaking.

German Tutor
8/2008 – 5/2011 Home tutoring, Wilmington, NC
For almost three years, I tutored now 14-year-old twins in German. Their mother is
American and their father is German. They understand almost anything that is
said to them in German, but I helped them gain the confidence to speak the
language more regularly, especially with their father. We had a few German
language books that we used for guidance. We also spoke a lot in German and
I tried to work on their pronunciation as much as possible.
