MARCH 2008 GRADUATION
Gloria Webb and her three children (D’Angelo-10, D’Andre-9, Arianna-
14) became homeless and came to the Providence House in Aprl of 2006,
after losing their trailer home due to fire and suffering from financial
difficulties. With the help of the Providence House, Ms. Webb received
her GED while working the Providence House Program; subsequently, she
enrolled at Southern University to acquire a degree in Phlebotomy. Ms.
Webb is proof that you can change your life and get on the right path. “All
it takes is will and determination, and you can succeed. My kids have
become more thankful for the things they have. The staff and other
families help motivate and encourage me a lot.” After graduation, Ms.
Webb’s long-term goal is to save enough money to buy a house.

Assured their gifts will be used for
the purposes for which they were given.
V.
Given appropriate
acknowledgement and recognition.
Providence House always mentions the success rate of families
who graduate from the program. But many never get that far.
For a variety of reasons, the many families who seek shelter at
Providence House’s program for homeless families sometimes
do not graduate from the program. Some continue to struggle
while others return later or find success on their own.
Tricia Ward and her three boys lived at the shelter more than
10 years ago. She didn’t leave the shelter under the best of
circumstances, but she carried the lessons with her. Last month,
she earned her RN-Nursing degree—a goal she set for herself
in the shelter. It also gave her the confidence to contact Ms.
Simone Hennessee and thank the staff for their help. Now, she
hopes to volunteer at the Providence House and share her story
with folks in a place she knows all too well.
Congratulations Tricia!!!

With the help of the Providence House, Ms. Webb received her GED while working the Providence House Program; subsequently, she enrolled at Southern University to acquire a degree in Phlebotomy. Ms. Webb is proof that you can change your life and get on the right path. “All it takes is will and determination, and you can succeed. My kids have become more thankful for the things they have. The staff and other families help motivate and encourage me a lot.” After graduation, Ms. Webb’s long-term goal is to save enough money to buy a house. Donor Bill ofRights Providence House Imagine … a community where no family is homeless. Providence House Donor Bill of Rights I. Informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes. II. Informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities. III. Be given access to the organization’s most recent financial statements. IV. Assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given. V. Given appropriate acknowledgement and recognition. Providence House always mentions the success rate of families who graduate from the program. But many never get that far. For a variety of reasons, the many families who seek shelter at Providence House’s program for homeless families sometimes do not graduate from the program. Some continue to struggle while others return later or find success on their own. Tricia Ward and her three boys lived at the shelter more than 10 years ago. She didn’t leave the shelter under the best of circumstances, but she carried the lessons with her. Last month, she earned her RN-Nursing degree—a goal she set for herself in the shelter. It also gave her the confidence to contact Ms. Simone Hennessee and thank the staff for their help. Now, she hopes to volunteer at the Providence House and share her story with folks in a place she knows all too well. Congratulations Tricia!!! Tricia Wards beats the Odds VI. Assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law. VII. Assured that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature. VIII. Informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers or employees of the organization. IX. Given the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists. X. Encouraged to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers. Our donors will be: 11
