3. HOW MARC GOT IN TO BMX
At the age of four Mark’s parents were sick of him
wrecking himself on the roadside outside their house. So
they took him to a Bmx track and he never looked back.
Winning his first national title at the age of 10. He was
then named in the NZ Team at age 11 and competed
against other 11 year olds from Australia. Then at age
sixteen he was again named in the NZ Team , this time in
the senior men’s team who also raced against Australia.
He is one of the original members on the BikeNZ High
Performance Squad. Right from the introduction of Bmx
in the Olympics in 2005. He was there.
4. ACHIEVEMENTS OF HIS CAREER SO FAR
*6th Elite Man in Paris World Camps 2005.
*2nd in UCI Oceanic Continental series 2006.
*1st Frejus France Super Cross World Cup 2007.
*2nd Madrid, Spain Super Cross World Cup 2008.
*Currently ranking top of the US ABA Series Pro Tittle
2011.
5. BIGGEST SETBACK OF HIS CAREER SO FAR
He dislocated his shoulder and tore the labrum and
pulled it off the bone. He tried to ride through it for six
months but it kept popping out during races. But after his
surgery he raced better than ever.
6. GOALS AND DREAMS
He is hoping to do well in the London 2012 Olympics after
crashing out at Beijing 2008 Olympics. He his been
training in America in their BMX league which is quite
tough so he is hoping to get a bronze or better. He has
been training very hard and is hoping that it will all pay
off.
