Day 1. Groundwater Principles
Introduction to the theory of the hydrologic
cycle, groundwater occurrence and flow
principles, surface groundwater interaction and
aquifer test analysis
Day 2. Groundwater Resource
Estimation
Outlines the process of collecting and
interpreting hydrogeological, geophysical and
other data for groundwater investigations,
hydrogeological mapping and natural resource
management
Day 3. Groundwater Resource
Development
Covers the practical aspects of designing and
managing the installation of production and
monitoring bores, logging holes, running pump
tests , sampling and monitoring programs
Day 4. Groundwater Resource
Management
Environmental impacts, groundwater modelling,
salt water interface, managed aquifer recharge,
aquifer contamination and resource protection
Day 5 (morning only). Application of
Groundwater Resource Investigation
and Management in a Malaysian
context
Followed by open forum to discuss how the
principles of groundwater investigation and
management may be applied to Malaysia s
unique issues
