    Micro or mini-jigs,use a size 12 hook with BB size split shot or slightly larger size split shot.www.fishn-life.comMaking a Jig Head: STEP TWO Pry open the split shot weight so that it is wide enough to fit around the shank of a hook.

    Crimp the splitshot weight around the hook shank by the hook eye.
  • 12.
    Flatten the sideswith pliers and vary between each jig head that is made.

    Dip the splitshot, hook eye end in a container of vinegar or lemon juice – this will aid in the paint sticking to the split shot.www.fishn-life.comMaking a Jig Head: STEP THREE Obtain the base color of enamel paint you wish to use. (yellow is used for this tutorial)

    Use pliers tohold the hook near the hook bend
  • 15.
    Dip hook eyeend into paint covering split shot weight.

    Let dry andrepeat applying a total of 2 coats of base color.
  • 17.
    *apply petroleum jellyto hook eye prior to dipping. This will prevent needing to cut away the paint layer from the hook eye.www.fishn-life.comMaking a Jig Head: STEP FOUR Once 2nd coat of paint is dry, use larger size nail head and dip into paint and apply to coated split shot.
  • 18.
    Repeat on eachside to create eye area.
  • 19.
    Once dry, usesmall nail head and dip into black paint and apply to eye area.
  • 20.
    If desired, addsome flare to bottom size of jig head to represent injured prey fish. Nail tip edge side works well for this.Cut away paint from hook eye or wipe away paint if petroleum jelly was used.
