Women in Tech: How to Build A Human CompanyLuminary Labs
We often think about design in terms of product or service strategy, but what about the design of companies? In the words of Phin Barnes of First Round Capital: “Entrepreneurs are the designers of companies. Great startup CEOs recognize very early that their job is not to build a product, but to build a company — defined by mission, values, and culture.”
Recently, organizations large and small have radically rethought company design by embracing employee-favorable policies such as establishing livable wages, developing creative equity plans, offering paid parental leave policies, and even pulling out of an entire state in protest of discrimination. In addition to sending a strong signal that people come first, these organizations are also making an economic argument to investors that employee-friendly policies pay dividends in reduced turnover and improved business outcome.
In this talk, Sara Holoubek, CEO of Luminary Labs, shares the forces behind this sea change as well as practical examples from companies featured in The Human Company Playbook, including Plated, Etsy, Pinterest, and General Assembly.

Finding Our Happy Place in the Internet of ThingsPamela Pavliscak
In the future, technology will work together and make decisions for us, though it may not truly understand humans. Currently, technology can have negative effects like distracting and isolating people. However, if designed well with a focus on empathy, emotional intelligence, and human well-being, technology could have positive impacts like strengthening relationships and empowering personal growth. Creating technology with emotional sensitivity, transparency, and a wellness model may lead to a more human future.
The document provides a collection of uplifting images from 2016 that depict personal victories, families and friends enjoying time together, acts of compassion, volunteers helping those in need, and expressions of love. The images showcase gold medalist celebrations, emergency responders assisting animals, siblings supporting each other, couples in loving embraces, community tree planting efforts, and many other heartwarming moments from the past year.
The Maker Movement began in the early 2000s as a resurgence of do-it-yourself creativity fueled by new technologies like 3D printing and Arduino boards. Makers now number in the millions as people rediscover the satisfaction of making physical objects with their own hands. New low-cost tools and online communities have lowered barriers to entry, empowering a new generation of innovators and shifting production away from large corporations. The Maker Movement promises significant economic and social benefits by transforming industries, democratizing innovation, and inspiring self-sufficiency.
Vital Trends in Digital Experience and Transformation in 2016 | Dreamforce 20...Dion Hinchcliffe
Here's the deck I presented at the Emerging Tech Trends track at the Hilton Union Square at Dreamforce 2016 last week. Updates on trends from last year and new trends both are included. A thorough list of what your organization should be considering from both a technology standpoint and as a business.
- The gig economy as currently defined will not last long term, as tasks like ridesharing and delivery are likely to be automated. However, skilled professionals using platforms like Thumbtack to find clients will persist and proliferate.
- Technology is empowering skilled tradespeople by allowing them to connect directly with customers and run their businesses more efficiently without traditional employers. Skilled professionals are less reliant on college degrees and are building middle-class lifestyles through online skills marketplaces.
- Policymakers should support independent workers through policies that provide safety nets and make it easier for skilled professionals to succeed without full-time employment.
How to run system administrator recruitment process? By creating platform based on open source parts in just 2 nights! I gave this talk in Poland / Kraków OWASP chapter meeting on 17th October 2013 at our local Google for Entrepreneurs site. It's focused on security and also shows how to create recruitment process in CTF / challenge way.
This story covers mostly security details of this whole platform. There's great chance, that I will give another talk about this system but this time focusing on technical details. Stay tuned ;)
We suddenly live in a strange and wonderful nexus of digital and physical. Touchscreens let us hold information in our hands, and we touch, stretch, crumple, drag, and flick data itself. Our sensor-packed phones even reach beyond the screen to interact directly with the world around us. While these digital interfaces are becoming physical, the physical world is becoming digital, too. Objects, places, and even our bodies are lighting up with with sensors and connectivity. We’re not just clicking links anymore; we’re creating physical interfaces to digital systems. This requires new perspective and technique for web and product designers. The good news: it’s all within your reach. With a rich trove of examples, Designing for Touch author Josh Clark explores the practical, meaningful design opportunities for the web’s newly physical interfaces.
Covey says most people look for quick fixes. They see a big success and want to know how he did it, believing (and hoping) they can do the same following a quick bullet list.
But real change, the author says, comes not from the outside in, but from the inside out. And the most fundamental way of changing yourself is through a paradigm shift.
That paradigm shift is a new way of looking at the world. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People presents an approach to effectiveness based on character and principles.
The first three habits indeed deal with yourself because it all starts with you. The first three habits move you from dependence from the world to the independence of making your own world.
Habits 4, 5 and 6 are about people and relationships. The will move you from independence to interdependence. Such, cooperating to achieve more than you could have by yourself.
The last habit, habit number 7, focuses on continuous growth and improvement.

You need your ex boyfriend back. You long for him. You need him. And now you're wondering
what you can do to make him want you back. Well, I'm going to share with you how to make your
ex
boyfriend want you back. That way, you can be back in his arms, feeling his love again.
Before attempting to make contact with him, you should deliberate what happened to your
relationship. Why did you two break up in the first place? When did you make out that things were
taking a turn for
the worse? Also, ask yourself if it was something you did or if it was something he did.
You have to be the person he fell in love with. He was attracted to you for a reason. Did you
change for some reason? You should correct any mistakes or bad habits, if there are any.
Now that you have those emotions stirring up inside you, call him. Let him understand that you see
eye to eye with the break up. I know this seems counter productive. But it's highly effective at
getting your ex
boyfriend back. What you want to do is play it as freedom.
Make assured you're calm and collected when you tell him.
If you two are past communicating with one another, you should write him a hand-written letter.
Inside the letter, let him know that you agree with the break up. Again, this will be efficient at
getting his attention and making your ex boyfriend want you back.
When you do this, it grabs his attention. He won't be expecting you to reply like this. He will
probably suppose you'll call him crying or pleading to get back together. Well, now you have
control of what happens next.
While you wait on him to call you back or write you back, you should get out. You don't need to be
in the house all through this time. You'll grow impatient and end up tormenting yourself about
when he's going to call you. So, go out and have fun with your friends.
This is how to make your ex boyfriend want you back. Use these tips to get him back now. You
deserve to be loved.
Sometimes, it's challenging getting your ex boyfriend back. And you may need additional help. If
you are serious about getting your ex boyfriend back, go to www.winbackyourexrelationship.com
