Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

hadir dengan mengusung
tema sosial budaya Dayak dan
teknologi dengan slogan “Jangan
Lupa Akar Mu“. Slogan ini
dibuat agar kita selalu mengingat
akar hidup kita berawal.
Menginjak awal Tahun 2020 ini kita semua dike-
jutkan dengan pandemi Covid-19 yang mempengaruhi
hampir semua aspek kehidupan manusia di dunia. Sosial
Distancing, Work From Home (#WFH) adalah istilah-
istilah yang sering kita dengar ditengah wabah pandemi
Covid-19 ini, ide membuat majalah digital UHAT ini
pun hadir salah satu nya adalah hasil perenungan apa
yang harus dilakukan selama masa pembatasan sosial
ini. Selain itu terutama, tentunya rasa kegelisahan atas
semakin terkikisnya kebudayaan Dayak dari generasi ke
generasi karena minimnya dokumentasi dan penyebaran
tentang budaya Dayak itu sendiri, terutama literatur
yang tertulis, karena pada dasarnya budaya Dayak
cenderung diwariskan turun temurun secara lisan.
Majalah digital UHAT ini dibuat di tengah
keterbatasan sumber daya baik itu waktu, pengetahuan,
dan tenaga. Oleh sebab itu UHAT sangat menyambut baik
bila ada pembaca yang berkenan membantu menyumbang
pemikiran, tenaga, atau tulisan untuk ikut bersama
melestarikan dan mengembangkan kebudayaan Dayak.

Suku Dayak Ngaju pada jaman
dahulu sudah mengenal astronomi
untuk penentuan masa atau waktu
tertentu dengan memperhatikan
posisi Bintang Patendu (ID: Sabuk
Bintang Orion) di langit. Paten-
du berjumlah tiga sama besarnya
sejajar, bintang Patendu biasa
muncul dini hari antara jam 3-4.

Karena itu suku Dayak Ngaju mengenal Manyamei Rajan Patendu yang merupakan dewa pengatur waktu
bagi manusia, terutama saat bercocok tanam atau berkebun. Penggunakan posisi Patendu selain untuk
menentukan kapan mulainya bercocok tanam atau berladang, juga digunakan untuk membaca situasi dan
kondisi sebagai isyarat untuk kapan harus memulai usaha atau pekerjaan bagi masyarakat Suku Dayak Ngaju
Nama bulan oleh Suku Dayak Ngaju dalam tutur para leluhur disusun dengan memperhatikan benda-benda
atau kejadian alam yang mana mempunyai sifat saling mempengaruhi terutama dengan kehidupan manusia.
Posisi dan cahaya Patendu yang di pantulkan dapat dijadikan isyarat atau tanda-tanda untuk memprediksi
peristiwa-peristiwayangmungkinakanterjadi,selaindigunakandalambekerjasepertiberburudidalamhutan.
PenamaanbulanolehSukuDayakNgajusebenarnyaadaseiringdenganbudayabercocoktanamatauberladang,
namunpadaartiansebenarnyapenamaanbulanmengandungartidanpesanyangbergunauntukkehidupankita
dijamansekarang. SebutannamabulansukuDayakNgajumemiliki12nama,disesuaikandenganposisiPatendu.

12 Nama Bulan Dayak Ngaju
1. Galang Batu
Bagi masyarakat Dayak Ngaju jaman dulu pekerjaan
bertani atau bercocok tanam merupakan pekerjaan
yang besar dan pokok, maka segala keperluan
untuk menghadapi musim tersebut perlu di
persiapkan dengan baik. Salah satu peralatan yang
diutamakan adalah batu asahan yang digunakan
untuk mengasah peralatan untuk membuka
lahan ladang. Batu asahan diatur sedemikian
rupa di suatu tempat yang disebut Galang Batu
*), ketika masa ini disebut Patendu Maneser.

2. Sauk Ampah
Patendu masih Maneser atau posisi rendah, posisi
bulan di langit baru muncul dengan kemirin-
gan menghadap bagian utara, ini disebut Sauk
Ampah *). Masa ini musim hujan sudah tiba.
Masehi : Januari -Februari
3. Karak Karayan
Musim penghujan, air meluap dari sungai-sun-
gai besar melewati tebing-tebing sungai sehingga
di tempat perladangan, tempat jemuran padi
(karayan) yang dibuat sudah bisa di bongkar.
Masehi : Februari-Maret
4. Agas Bilis
Air sudah meluap dari sungai meninggalkan
genangan air besar, ikan-ikan besar dan kecil (salu-
ang / bilis) sudah menyebar mengisi semua tempat.
Pada waktu ini baik ikan-ikan besar dan kecil
memasuki musim kawin, keadaan ini disebut Agas.

5. Arak Saptalis
Akhir musim penghujan, awal dari musim kemarau,
sejenis serangga diatas ketinggian tertentu di
angkasa membentuk gerombolan bergerak ke
arah tertentu, serangga ini disebut Saptalis *).

6. Bantai Asan
Posisi Patendu tempat di kaki langit pada waktu
subuh menjelang pagi kurang lebih antara jam 04.00
– 05.00 WIB. Di ibaratkan seperti kayu kecil tempat
ayam bertengger yang di letakkan berjejer sejajar.

7. Rarean Antang
Patendu sudah bisa dilihat jelas setinggi pohon
di kaki langit sebelah timur pada subuh pagi.
Di ibaratkan seperti kayu kecil yang lurus tidak
berbuku-buku tempat ikatan burung, bisa
turun naik dari ujung yang satu ke ujung yang
lainnya disebut Rarean, di letakkan pada bagian
yang miring guna memudahkan pergeseran.

8. Santah Sipet
Posisi Patendu pada subuh pagi, di ibaratkan dengan
kejituan / ketepatan posisi menyumpit yang jarang
meleset, membentuk kira-kira sudut 45 derajat.

Posisi Patendu jika ditunjuk dengan lengan
yang awal mulanya di titik pergelangan
tangan bergeser ke pangkal lengan. Musim
berladang / bertani sudah di mulai.

Posisi Patendu sudah condong ke Barat. Pada zaman dahulu suku Dayak Ngaju biasanya membuat
pondok untuk berladang yang terbuat dari daun Kajang, ketika pekerjaan berladang selesai
maka pondok daun Kajang dikemas dan disimpan sehingga penggunaannya bisa berulang-
ulang, maka muncul lah istilah Lipat Kajang yang menandakan bahwa pekerjaan sudah selesai.

2019 di salah satu cafe di
kota Kuala Kurun, walau
sebelumnya beberapa kali
di lakukan pertemuan kecil.

berjumlah 26 orang.
Apakah visi misi dari KIM Gumas ?
Visi dari KIM Gumas adalah menjadi wahana kepedulian ibu – ibu muda Gunung Mas,
menjadi sarana partisipasi dan kepedulian masyarakat Gunung Mas di bidang sosial,
kesehatan dan pendidikan, menjadi organisasi yang mampu berkarya, berintegritas,
berdedikasi pada prinsif kepedulian sosial dan edukasi.
Misinya adalah terbinanya bentuk kepedulian sosial dari ibu – ibu muda Gunung Mas.
Memberikan kesempatan seluas – luasnya pada ibu – ibu muda untuk mewujudkan
kepedulian sosial dalam tindakan dan terlibat sebagai motor kegiatan dalam proses saling
belajar untuk melayani sesama.
Kegiatan apa saja yang telah di lakukan KIM Gumas selama ini ?
Untuk kegiatan yang telah dilakukan KIM Gumas sudah banyak sebenarnya, seperti
pencarian donasi untuk yang memerlukan, pembagian sembako, pembangunan dan bedah
rumah warga yang kurang mampu, pembagian alat tulis untuk adik-adik yang memerlukan,
membantu pengadaan kaki palsu, pemberian bantuan susu dan lain-lain.

Adakah suka duka nya selama ini dalam menolong sesama?
Membantu sesama memiliki kenikmatan tersendiri bagi kami, apalagi jika bantuan yang
diberikan donatur sampai kepada sesama yang membutuhkan. Trus juga pengetahuan
bertambah. Kalau dukanya bukan ke duka sebenarnya ya, paling cuman rasa lelah karena
harus membagi waktu antara keluarga, pekerjaan, dan kegiatan KIM. Dan tentu saja rasa
yang tidak bisa diungkapkan ketika melihat wajah bahagia mereka yang tertolong.
Apa motivasi dan harapan ke depan dari kegiatan atau gerakan KIM Gumas ini?
Motivasi yang kami pegang yaitu membantu sesama akan menjadikan diri pribadi yang
lebih paham kondisi kehidupan yang sebenarnya, sehingga ketika kita sedang berada
di posisi bawah, kita tidak selalu mengutuk keadaan, pada intinya membuat kita lebih
banyak bersyukur kepada Tuhan. Harapan Kami sesuai dengan visi misi KIM menjadi
sarana partisipasi dan kepedulian masyarakat Gunung Mas dan organisasi yang mampu
berkarya, berintegritas, berdedikasi pada prinsif kepedulian sosial dan edukasi.

Upacara Tiwah merupakan ritual yang
dilaksanakan umat Kaharingan dan merupakan
upacaratingkatterakhirdalamkematian.Tiwah
dimaksud untuk mengantar roh keluarga yang
telah meninggal menuju Lewu Tatau (Surga).
Dalam upacara Tiwah terdapat serangkaian
acara salah satunya Laluhan yang memiliki
filosopi gotong royong.
The Tiwah ceremony is a ritual carried out by
the Kaharingan people and is the last level of the
ceremony in death. Tiwah is intended to bring
the spirits of family members who have died to-
wards Lewu Tatau (Heaven). In the Tiwah cer-
emony there is a series of events, one of which
is Laluhan which has a philosophy of mutual
cooperation.

Laluhan berasal dari kata Laluh
yang artinya pemberian. Dalam
praktiknya, Laluhan adalah pen-
gantaran barang-barang pemberian
dari warga desa yang satu kepada
warga desa yang lain yang sedang
menggelar upacara ritual Tiwah.
Pemberian yang diantarkan dengan
menggunakan rakit atau angkutan
air lainnya ini sebagai ungkapan
kebersamaan, wujud kegotong-roy-
ongan dan solidaritas sosial.
Laluhan is derived from the word
Laluh which means gift. In practice,
Laluhan is the delivery of gifts from
one villager to another villager who
is holding a Tiwah ritual. The gifts
delivered by using rafts or other wa-
ter transportation are expressions of
togetherness, a form of mutual coop-
eration and social solidarity.

Dalam upacara Tiwah, tujuan Laluhan adalah
untuk mengurangi beban keluarga yang sedang
menyelenggarakan upacara Tiwah, mengingat
upacara ritual ini memerlukan dana yang besar.
Upacara adat ini biasanya dipimpin oleh tokoh
adat dan tokoh agama pada masyarakat setempat.
Sarana transportasi air berupa, klotok, tongkang,
sampan, rakit, atau perahu yang penuh dengan
berbagai hiasan budaya Dayak, dipergunakan
untuk memuat dan mengantarkan barang-barang
pemberian. Di dalam angkutan air tersebut
terdapat sejumlah orang yang memainkan alat
musik tradisional setempat seperti gong, kenong,
babun,seruling,dansebagainya,serayabernyanyi
dengan lagu khas masyarakat setempat.
In the Tiwah ceremony, the purpose of Lalu-
han is to reduce the burden on the family who are
holding the Tiwah ceremony, bearing in mind that
this ritual ceremony requires large funds. This tra-
ditional ceremony is usually led by traditional and
religious leaders in the local community. Water
transportation facilities, such as klotok, barges,
canoes, rafts, or boats filled with various Dayak
cultural decorations, are used to load and deliver
the gifts. In the water transport there are a num-
ber of people who play local traditional musical
instruments such as gongs, kenong, babun, flutes,
and so on, while singing with typical songs of the
local community.

Laluhan tidak hanya dilaksanakan menjelang
pemindahan tulang belulang orang yang telah meninggal
saja, karena Laluhan terdiri dari beberapa jenis. Di
antaranya adalah: 1) Laluhan pada Upacara Tiwah. 2)
Laluhan pada upacara penyambutan kemenangan.
Diselenggarakan pada waktu pulang dalam kemenangan
setelah berperang melawan musuh. 3) Laluhan menyambut
kemenangan melawan bermacam penyakit yang menimpa
masyarakat kampung atau kota.
Laluhan is not only carried out prior to the removal of
the bones of a deceased person, because Laluhan consists
of several types. Among others are: 1) Laluhan at the Tiwah
Ceremony.2)Laluhanatthewelcomingceremonyofvictory.

buatan Jepang yang berasal dari Perang
Dunia ke II. Meliputi keseluruhan pulau
dengan kode warna sesuai dengan
kabupaten. Memiliki detail yang luar
biasa mengenai elemen topografi dan
politik. Mulai dari nama kota, jalan, rute
perdagangan di udara, laut dan darat,
serta menampilkan kedalaman laut di
sekeliling pulau Borneo. Semua teks
dalam bahasa Jepang. Peta ini dibuat
sebagai peta no. 12 dari 20 seri peta yang
merinci bagian-bagian Asia dan Pasifik
yang disiapkan oleh Jepang selama
Perang Dunia II.
Jepang pertama menyerang pulau
Borneo pada pertengahan Desember
1941, mendarat di pantai barat dekat
Miri di Sarawak, Malaysia. Pada Tanggal
11 Januari 1942, tentara Jepang mendarat
di Tarakan, Kalimantan Timur, dan esok
harinya (12 Januari 1942) Komandan
Belanda di pulau itu menyerah. Tujuan
utama Jepang menguasai Borneo adalah
minyak bumi.

Jembatan Sei Alalak yang menghubungkan
Kota Banjarmasin ke Kabupaten Barito Kuala
(Batola) diperkirakan akan menjadi salah satu
jembatan terunik di Indonesia, hal ini di kare-
nakan jembatan ini merupakan jembatan cable-
stayed dan struktur lengkung pertama di Indo-
nesia. Jembatan ini dibangun sebagai pengganti
Jembatan Tangi 1. Pembuatan Jembatan Alalak ini
diperkirakan menelan anggaran sebesar Rp 290
miliar dengan pengerjaan secara multiyears dari
Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara sejak
2018 hingga 2020.
Penemuan ribuan gambar cadas
(rock art) di pedalaman Kalimantan
Timur menarik minat para peneliti
untuk melakukan kajian. Sudah sejak
lama dinding-dinding ceruk dan gua
di kawasan pegunungan karst Sang-
kulirang-Mangkalihat itu diketahui
menyimpan gambar purba, seperti
bentuk tangan manusia, hewan, sim-
bol-simbol abstrak, dan motif-motif
lain yang saling berhubungan. Dalam
penelitian terbaru diketahui kawasan
itu menyimpan gambar cadas tertua
di dunia. Penelitian ini dilakukan di
enam lokasi gua, yaitu Liang Jeriji
Saleh, Liang Ham, Liang Karim, Liang
Tewet, Liang Banteng, dan Liang Sara.
Dengan metode analisis penanggalan
U-series Geochemistry terhadap
sampel di Liang Jeriji Saleh diperoleh
usia 40.000 tahun yang lalu. Sampel
ini berupa gambar figur hewan yang
diperkirakan banteng liar. Sementara
gambar negatif tangan berusia 37.000
tahun yang lalu.

MANYUAR
Memancing ikan dengan tombak saat
malam menggunakan pencahayaan
obor/senter.
Menangkap ikan
dengan cara Manyuar dapat
dilakukan di muara sungai
atau di hulu sungai. Pada
jaman dahulu suku Dayak
memancing pada malam hari
menggunakan penerangan
obor yang terbuat dari
bambu, di isi dengan dam-
ar, atau dengan sepotong
kayu bakar yang menyala.
Pada jaman dulu sungai di
Kalimantan memiliki jumlah
ikan dengan jumlah besar.
Ikan saat itu dengan mudah
ditemukan di sisi darat dekat
rakit sehingga orang dengan
mudah dapat melihatnya.
Memancing dengan
pencahayaan obor dilakukan
ketika bulan gelap dan ketika
ada badai dengan hujan lebat.
karena pada saat seperti itu
semua ikan berada di tepi
sungai. Selain Manyuar di
sungai besar, orang Dayak
juga biasa Manyuar di anak
sungai atau di danau. Waktu
terbaik untuk Manyuar
adalah di musim kemarau,
karena pada musim itu air
sungai cenderung jernih
dan ikan terlihat jelas oleh
sorotan cahaya obor.
PeralatanuntukManyuar
suku Dayak adalah: Simpang
(tombak dengan 1, 2, 3 atau
4 gigi), Salahawo (tombak
3 bergerigi) dan Dohok
(tombak dengan setengah
pisau). Ketika orang menom-
bak ikan kecil, mereka
menggunakan Simpang
tetapi untuk menombak ikan
besar maka menggunakan
Salahawo.
