The Mahaparinirvan Express is a tourist train launched in 2007 to attract Buddhist pilgrims. It operates for 8 days and 7 nights, taking passengers on a spiritual tour of important Buddhist sites across Northern India, including Lumbini, Bodhgaya, Varanasi, and Kushinagar. Fares start at USD 115 for an AC third tier cabin and go up to USD 165 for an AC first class cabin. The train gets its name from Gautama Buddha's Mahaparinirvana, or final death, and follows in the places he visited.
