Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It is located above the Urubamba Valley and is one of the historical wonders of the world. The complex was built in the 15th century and abandoned just over 100 years later at the time of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire.
