 Parents of Murray Charles Faulkner & Maud Faulkner.
 Began to write poetry at age 13.
 Attended Oxford High School where he played
quarterback on football team,

 Faulkner dropped out of high school & worked at his
grandfather’s bank.
 Rejected from Army because he was too short.
 Enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
 Attended the University of Mississippi.
 Wrote his first book in The Marble Faun in 1924.
 Died in 1962

Accomplishments
 In 1950 Faulkner received the Noble Prize for
Literature.
 Composed almost 100 short stories.
 Noted as one of the 20th Century greatest writers.
 Elected to the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
