League of Women Voters - Lake County
P.O. Box 645
Lake Forest, lL 60045
Dear Ms. Matthews
On behalf of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, I wish to thank and com mend
the League of Women Voters of Lake County for their outstanding support for the lllinois Violent
Death Reporting System (IVDRS). I understand from Maryann Mason that the efforts of Kathleen
Wasik have been highly instrumental and essential for engaging the coroners of Lake and
Winnebago Counties and the Lake County Sheriff to guarantee their participation in this critically
important project. Ms. Wasik has spent countless hours networking and meeting with county
officials, including the Lake County officials to advance participation of the Coroner/s Office.
Ms. Wasik is also a member of the IVDRS Advisory Committee and attends quarterly meetings
where she provides valuable insight as an informed citizen and League member. lt is her
involvement at the grass-roots level that encourages people to address the problem of violence in
our communities and work toward developing solutions.
Without the assistance of the League of Women Voters of La ke County, IVDRS would not have the
exposure and advocacy required to make it a successful surveillance system.
Sincerely,
ca
Patrick M. Magoon
President & CEO
