3. Common Questions
• When will we have time to shower?
– In the valley, you can shower before
breakfast, or during your afternoon break.
Typically you do not have time in the
evening.
– At Crane Flat, there are posted student
bathroom times and typically morning
showers are not feasible.
4. More Common Questions
• Will we spend the day with our cabin group?
– You are with your hiking group during the day and
during the evening program. You are not in a
hiking group with people from your cabin.
– You are with your cabin group on the bus, for
breakfast and for dinner.
– During free time you can spend time with others
so long as you are not in their cabin. Typically
students spend time outside on the porch, at the
picnic tables or at the store with anyone they
choose.
– No matter where you go, you NEVER go by
yourself.
5. More Common Questions
• What types of activities will we do during the day?
– You leave at 8:30 with your hiking group and return around
3-4.
– During that time you enjoy:
• Hikes and studies of the environment around you.
• Outdoor science experiments
• Games and group challenges.
• A challenging hike where you might climb between 1000 and
2000 feet off the valley floor
• Cross-country skiing
• Time to write in your journal and reflect on your experience.
• Visits to historical locations in the park.
• Stewardship projects.
• Group lunch on the trail.
6. More Common Questions
• Do we get to eat with our cabin group?
– Eating times for Breakfast and Dinner are assigned by Rotation
(There are about 13 cabins in a Rotation).
– You meet at a central meeting area with an adult to walk to the
dinning hall. You may eat with anyone in your rotation.
– You need to have your table checked by an adult in your rotation
before moving to the waiting area at the front of the Dining Pavillion.
You walk back to camp with an adult from your Rotation.
– PLEASE buy a basic watch for the trip to keep yourself on
schedule.
– PLEASE drop by the white board at your location to get the latest
times for your Rotation.
7. More Common Questions
• Is the schedule the same at Crane Flat?
– The schedule is close to the same.
– One addition is some additional housekeeping that is done at Crane Flat in
the morning before you leave.
– Also you don’t have to walk to dinner or your evening program.
• Does everyone go to Crane Flat?
– Crane Flat can only support three groups or Rotations during a week.
– If you don’t go to Crane Flat, you spend one day at Badger Pass
8. More Questions
• Do we choose our hiking group?
– You choose your cabin group. Each group
of four students completes ONE card.
(your name is only on one card.)
– This year, you will circle your pair (in case I
have to move two students into a separate
room during the week.)
– This year, find a buddy card (four others
that you would be okay with).
– Mrs. Enright assigns hiking groups from
non-cabin friends.
