Gadgeon Systems developed an ultra low cost IoT home gateway with associated cloud and mobile apps to secure homes from fire, flood and freeze. A team of 5 used Python, Selenium, Appium and Jmeter to test the end-to-end use cases involving the hub, mobile app and cloud server. Gadgeon's experts designed a test strategy and custom framework to ensure coverage of features across WiFi, Zwave and ClearSky protocols and verify system performance and scalability with large numbers of devices.

Security observability is an intrinsic attribute of an application that provides direct observation of software vulnerabilities and attempted exploits as they happen, in order to allow rapid proactive remediation and prevention. Security Observability can be achieved by taking an instrumentation based approach that provides continuous visibility and exposure of vulnerabilities and threats and their context from within the software itself. This approach is particularly appropriate for cloud-based and hybridized distributed environments, because the instrumentation is agnostic to deployment methodologies and runtime environments. A demonstration will be provided that demonstrates the benefits of this approach for both custom code and open source dependencies, as well as across the software development lifecycle, showing both the rapid pinpointing of line-of-code level vulnerabilities for developers, and realtime exploit prevention in production.

Una vez lanzado el producto al mercado, acaban teniendo que invertir recursos inesperados por culpa de problemas de seguridad. Parches, hotfixes, actualizaciones… se convierten en la solución monótona que, lo que consigue es acabar dificultando la usabilidad del producto. Seguro que a todos se nos vienen nombres a la cabeza.
