Loudoun Habitat for Humanity Welcomes New Executive Director
By Charles A. Hickman
Leesburg, VA – September 22, 2010 - Loudoun Habitat for Humanity has hired Jeffrey (Jeff) Dee
to be their new Executive Director. Mr. Dee started on Wednesday, September 8th. He comes
to the Loudoun chapter bringing a background in teaching, theology and mission work. Most
recently he served as the Director of Institutional Advancement at the Catholic Distance
University in Hamilton, VA since 2008. Prior to that, he was the Religion Department Chair and
Teacher and the Community Service Director at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville,
MD from 2004 until 2008. He was awarded the Teacher of the Year there in 2007 and 2008.
He earned an MA in Theology from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in May
2004. He resides in Sterling.
“Putting people into homes is the ultimate goal of Habitat for Humanity,” declares Mr. Dee. He
plans on achieving this using a four pronged approach. This includes raising awareness,
streamlining office operations, increasing resources to obtain land for home sites, increased
outreach to churches and civic organizations such as the Kiwanis, the Rotary Club, the Catholic
Business Network and the Optimist Club.
The Loudoun chapter is presently working on rehabilitating houses in the Neighborhood
Stabilization Program. There are two building projects going on in St. Louis, VA near
Middleburg. The Hamilton Property will have a total of five houses built by the Loudoun
chapter. One has already been built. In addition, there is also building being done at the
Peterson Property.
“Loudoun Habitat for Humanity has morphed into a highly effective, healthy non-profit which
is primed for growth in its provision of affordable housing in Loudoun County. The time was
right for an Executive Director who can coordinate our efforts and guide our expansion. We are
fortunate to have found Jeff at such a time as this. Particularly someone who has the skills to
close our gaps and keep our army of volunteers on point,” explains Pamela McGraw, the
President of Loudoun Habitat for Humanity.
