It is my pleasure to recommend Mr. Madugula Manish for your institute’s Internship Programme. I came
to know Manish through his work on my project titled 'Identification of voicing assimilation from
children's speech' during his summer internship at NIT Surathkal. He first approached me past year about
the possibility to work on my project as a research intern. During the project, Manish demonstrated the
ability to work smartly with creativity and enthusiasm. One of his first jobs was to collect relevant speech
data from a vast dataset of almost 3000 words. Manish has good clarity on the various data analysis
statistical packages including the programming tools like MATLAB and Python, which immensely
helped us in doing a comparative study through various methods. He was quick to learn Praat and
effectively used it for analysis. The code he wrote was modular and designed to be scalable.
His research mentor Mr. Pravin Ramteke always had praises for Manish. Throughout the internship,
Manish demonstrated great perseverance and initiative. His algorithm for segment-wise normalization had
really helped to improve the accuracy of the system we had developed.
His hard work paid off when his paper, 'Identification of voicing assimilation from children's speech' was
selected for publication and presentation in INDIACom-2017, an International Conference on
Computing for Sustainable Global Development, to be held at Delhi, India.
Manish is clearly one of the best intern students that I have worked in the past few years. I strongly
