It is my pleasure to recommend Alec Taylor for your scholarship program. After observing his progress in
my Rhetoric 110: Written Communication course, I can confidently say that Alec comprehends and applies
concepts with ease and efficiency. Alec dramatically changed his writing during my class because he paid
acute attention to the lectures, he studied and completed each assigned essay with care and investment, he
listened and responded respectfully to his classmates, he regularly articulated thoughtful insights during
class discussion, and he appreciated any criticism that helped improve his writing. By the end of the course,
Alec’s writing was both polished and complex. His critical thinking skills developed as well, making it
clear that he feels a social obligation to others. Alec offered inquiries and perspectives that showed his
desire to engage in a deep and sustained discussion about our society and world. Overall, Alec shows a
