 When you stand or move around on the boat grab hold of something and don’t let go unless you have grabbed something else on the boat Maintain three points of contact at all times
 Either two feet and one hand – or two hands and one foot
Do not hold on to the locks’ wooden floatation with bare hands
 danger for splinters
Do not use your hands or feet to fend off other boats or objects
 Use seat cushions and fenders instead
 Always have a seat cushion or fender in easy reach for these situations
 Avoid getting entangled in lines or ropes
 Never stand on lines or ropes
 Don’t wrap lines or ropes around your hand or wrist
