What is a Recce and why do we do
one?
Recce is a military term that has been borrowed
by the media in the United Kingdom, derived
from “reconniter" (British English) “, the verb
form of "reconnaissance". It is a pre-production
visit to a location to work out its suitability for
filming/photography, including access to
necessary facilities, assessment of any potential
lighting or sound issues and risk and hazard
assessments.
TASK 2.
1. Create a new post and blog your group
definition, amended if necessary from class
discussion, of a location recce. Include the
purpose of a recce.
What should you assess on your
location recce?
1. In your groups research they types of things
you will need to assess regarding your
location.

Feedback your ideas to the class and the teacher
will make a note of them on the whiteboard.
TASK 3
1. Using www.examtime.com create a mindmap
which identifies the assessments you need to
carry out on your location recce.
2. Embed the mindmap into your blog.
HOMEWORK
1. For homework you need to create an actual
location recce which includes images and
discussion about your chosen locations. An
example of how you may want to layout your
recce is on the blog.
