This document discusses plans for a location-based social network app called Kailash. The app would allow users to find friends, check-in to places, and explore new locations. It would source place data through crowd-sourcing or Google Places and determine location using W3C geolocation, social networks, IP addresses, or user input. The app would be delivered via a mobile site optimized for GPRS and use a stack of Apache/Nginx, PHP, MySQL or NoSQL, and JqTouch. It aims to be the first location-based social app for Chennai and is created partly out of curiosity.
